OF ARCADIA.

AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. VrrlEREAS, the City Council of the City of
Arcadia did in open session at its regular meeting on January
17, 1950, publicly open, examine and declare all sealed proposals
or bids for doing certain VI ork and improvement on the first alley
north of Huntington Drive, from the easterly line of First Avenue
to the westerly line of Indiana Street, in said City of Arcadia;
that Resolution of Intention No. 1949 heretofore adopted by this
Council on the 15th day of November, 1949, contains a complete
description of said 1york a nd improvement and reference is hereby
made to said Resolution of Intention No. 1949 for a complete des-
cription of said work and improvement.
SECTION 2. That the grade to which t he work hereinabove
described shall be done and the improvement made as provided in
this Resolution, is shovm on Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-
184, on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City to
which profile reference is hereby made for the description of such
grade.
SECTIO~ 3. That all of the foregoing work and improve-
ment shall be done in a ccordance with said Profile and Improvement
Plan No. C-184, on file in the office of the City Engineer of
said City of Arcadia.
That all of the foregoing work on grading and the cons-
truction of concrete curbs, and concrete gutters shall be in ac-
cordance with the following specifications on file in the office
of the City Engineer of the City of Arcadia, to wit: "Standard
Specifications No. 0 and No. 1 fer the construction of curbs,

sidewalks, gutters, oil macadam and concrete pavement.1f
That all of the foregoing work on the construction of
street pavement shall be in 8. ccordance with the following spec i-
fications on file in the office of the City Engineer of the City
of Arcadia, to wit: IfStandard Specifications for asphaltic concrete
pl'e-mix pavement and ','iearing surface ,If
Said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-184 and the spe-
cifications hereinabove referred to were adopted by Resolution Ira.
1947 of said City Council of the City of Pxcadia, and the same
are hereby made a part of this Resolution and are hereby referred
to for a more particular description of said work, All avenues
and drives referred to in this resolution are public avenues and
drives of said City.
SECTION 4. That said contemplated work and improvement,
in the opinion of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, is of
more than local or ordinary public benefit and said City Council
hereby makes the expense of said work and improvement chargeable
upon the District, which district said City Council hereby declares
to be the district benefitted by said work and improvement and to
be assessed to pay the costs and expenses thereof, which said
District shall include all those lots in the said City of Arcadia,
County of Los Angeles, State of California shown and indicated on
the plat or map of said District, whereon is indicated by a boundary
line the extent of the lands included in the proposed assessment
District, which plat or map~us approved and adopted by Resolution
No, 1948, of the City Council of said City of Arcadia, and is on
file in the office of the City Engineer of the City of Arcadia.
Reference is hereby made to said plat or map for further, full and
complete description of said assessment district, which said plat

or map is designated as Assessment District No. W-57, and said map
so on file shall govel'n all details as to the extent of such assess-
ment district.

SECTION 5. Said City Council also determines and de-
,
clares that Serial Bonds shall be issued to represent each assess-
ment of Twenty-five (~~25.00) dollars, or more, remaining unpaid
for thirty (30) days after the date of the warrant, to represent
the expenses of said work and improvement. Said Serial Bonds
shall extend over a period of nine (9) years from the second day
of ITanuary next succeeding the next October 15th following their
date and an even, annual proportion of the principal sum thereof
shall be payable by coupon on the second day of January of each
year, following the next OctoDBr 15th after their date, until the
whole is paid, and the interest shall be payable semi-annually
by coupon on the second days of January and July, respectively,
of each year after their d ate, at the r ate of six per cent (61b)
per annum on all sums unpaid until the whole of said principal and
interest are paid. Said bonds ~~d interest thereon shall be
payable at the office of the City Treasurer of the City of P~cadia.
SECTION 6. All of the proceedings for the aforesaid
work and improvement and for the issuance of said bonds shall be
had and taJ{en under and in accordance vlith t he provisions of an
act of the Legislature of the stute of California, known and
. designated as the "Improvement Act of 1911", being Division 7,
Streets ~~d Highways Code of the State of California.
Reference is hereby made to Resolution of Intention No.
1949 of said City Council, declaring its intention to order
said work to be done, for further particulars, which Resolution
of Intention is on file in the office of the City Clerk of said
City of Arcadia.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the said City Coun-
cil hereby rejects all of said proposals or bids, except the
next herein mentioned, and hereby awards the contract for doing
said work and improvement to the lowest, regular, responsible

bidder therefor, to

in its proposal on file for said work and
the price mentioned
improvement.
The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish notice of
this award twice in the Arcadia Bulletin, a newspaper of general
circulation, published and circulated in the City of Arcadia and
hereby designated for that purpose by said City Council.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTI~1 that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Connc il of the City of Arc adia,
held on the 17th day of January, 1950, by the affirmative vote of
at least tm'ee Councilmen, to wit:
