RESOLUTION NO. 1997.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMIS-
SION TO THE ELECTORS OF AN ORDINANCE EROVIDING
FOR THE REPEALING OF ORDINANCE NO. 431 OF THE
CITY OF ARCADIA, ADOPTED MARCH 5, 1940, CREATING
,AND ESTABLISHING A PERSONlffiL SYSTEM FOR SAID CITY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That at the regular municipal election to be
held April 11, 1950, in the City of Arcadia, there shall be submitted
to the electors the following ordinance, providing for the repeal of
Ordinance No. 431 of the City of Arcadia, entitled, "An Ordinance of
the City Council of the City of Arcadia, creating and establishing a
personnel system for said City~ adopted March 5, 1940, to wit:

"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
,THE CITY OF ARCADIA, REPEALING OR-
DINANCE NO. 431 OF THE CITY OF ARCA-
DIA, CREATING AND ESTABLISHING A
PERSONNEL SYSTEM FOR SAID CITY, ADOPl'-
ED ~ffiRCH 5, 1940.
THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 431 of the City of
Arcadia, entitled, "An Ordinance of the City Council of the
City of Arcadia, creating and establishing a personnel sys-
tem for said City," adopted March 5, 1940, and all ordin-
ances amendatory thereof, be and the same are hereby repealed.
Section 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this Ordinance and prior to the expiration of
fifteen (15) days from the passage thereof shall cause the
same to be published once in the Arcadia Bulletin, a news-
paper of general circulation,published and circulated in
the City of Arcadia, and thirty (30) days from and after
final passage thereof said Ordinance shall take effect and
be in force."
SECTION 2. That said Ordinance be submitted to the electors
in the form of a proposition printed on the ballot as follows:

"Shall the City adopt Ordinance No.
providing for the repeal of Ordinance No.
431 of the City of Arcadia, creating and
establishing a personnel system for the City?"
SECTION 3. That said proposition shall be submitted to
the voters in addition to any other matters or propositions to be sub-
mitted to the voters at said regular municipal election as set forth
in Resolution No. 1996 adopted and approved the 21st day of February,
1950.
SECTION 4. That the returns of the election shall be

canvassed and declared as at other municipal elections, and if it ap-

pears that a majority of the votes cast at such election are in favor

of said proposition, the said Ordinance thereby shall be passed and
approved as an ordinance of the People of the City of Arcadia and shall
go into full force and effect on the tenth (10) day~ thereafter.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk be and he is hereby autho-
rized and instructed to comply with Section 1720 of the Elections Code
of the State of California.
SECTION 6. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adop-
tion of this resolution and shall cause the same to be published once
a week for two (2) weeks in the Arcadia Bulletin, a weekly newspaper
of general circulation in said City.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held
on the 21st day of February, 1950, by the affirmative vote of at least
three Councilmen, to wit:
