RESOLUTION NO. '1'VJ.
RESOLUT ION OF THE CITY COUNC IL OF THE
CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, REPEALING
ITS RESOLUTION NO. 1721; APPROVING NEW
PROPOSED RESOLUTION OF INTENTION; AND
REQUESTING CONSENT OF THE LEGISLATIVE
BODIES OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES
AND OF EACH OF THE CITIES OF PASADENA,
MONROVIA AND SIERRA MADRE.
WHEREAS, this City Council, on October 21, 1947,
approved Plan No. C-171 and specifications designated
"Specifications for Sanitary Sewer Improvements Assessment
District No. W-43" for the construction of certain improve-
ments (consisting of sanitary sewers and appurtenances and
appurtenant ~ork) in the City of Arcadia and extending into
unincorporated territory of the County of Los Angeles and
into each of the Cities of Pasadena, Monrovia and Sierra
Madre, and approved a map of the proposed assessment district
designated "Map of Assessment District No. V/-43, II and under
and pursuant to the Improvement Act of 1911 adopted its
Resolution No. 1720 approving the proposed resolution of
intention and requesting the legislative body of the County
of Los Angeles and the legislative body of each of the Cities
of Pasadena, lilonrovia and Sierra ~ladre to approve said pro-
posed resolution of intention and to give its consent to the
vork and improvement and the formation of the assessment
district, ~ll as provided in Chapter 2 of the Improvement
Act of 1911 (Division 7 of the Streets and Highways Code);
and
~REREAS, the consent of each of said legislative

bodies to the proposed work and improvement and to the
formation of the assessment district was duly given and
the proposed resolution of intention (being Resolution No.
1721) was duly approved by each of said legislative bodies,
all as provided in said Chapter 2, and thereafter said reso-
lution of intention was duly adopted by this City Council
and numbered 1721; and
ViliEREAS, it is desirable to make a technical
change in Section 7 of said resolution of intention and, in
order to accomplish that purpose, to repeal said Resolution
No. 1721 and to approve a new proposed resolution of inten-
tion whicIl, as to title, recitals and all sections except
changed SElction 7, is the same in all respects as said
Resolution No. 1721, and the description of the work and
improvement and of the assessment district in said new pro-
posed resolution of intention is identical with the descrip-
tion of the work and improvement and district in said
Resolution No. 1721; and
VffiEREAS, the legislative body of the County of
Los Angeles and the legislative body of each of the Cities
of Pasadena, Monrovia and Sierra Madre have heretofore
consented to the work and improvement and to the formation
of the assessment district described in said Resolution No.
1721, the same work and improvement and assessment district
being now described in identical language in said proposed
new resolution of intention, but it is desirable, in view
of the change in Section 7, to obtain the approval of each

of said legislative bodies of said new resolution of inten-
tion; and
WHEREAS, said new resolution of intention has been
presented and examined and is hereinafter referred to as the
"Proposed Resolution of Intention";
NOW, THEREFORE, the City council of the City of
Arcadia, california, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND
ORDER as follows:
Section 1. That Resolution No. 1721 of the City
of Arcadia be and it hereby is repealed.
section 2. That said "Proposed Resolution of In-
tention" ill hereby approved.
Section 3. That the public interest and convenience
require and, in the opinion of this City Council, the proposed
work described in said plans and specifications is of such a
character that it directly and peculiarly affects property in
the City of' Arcadia and in each of the cities mentioned in
Section 4 l:,ereof, and in unincorporated territory of the
County of 1,0s Angeles, and that the purposes sought to be
accomplished by the said work can best be accomplished by a
single comprehensive scheme of work as set out in said plans
and specifications. That, as shown on said plans, said work
shall extend beyond the territorial limits of the City of
Arcadia, and the boundaries of the district to be assessed
therefor shall likewise extend beyond the territorial limits
of the City of Arcadia and include certain lands in the unin-
corporated territory of the County of Los Angeles, as shovm

on said as:;essment district map, and in the opinion of
this City Council the lands in the unincorporated territory
of the COill,ty of Los Angeles proposed to be included within
the boundaries of said assessment district will be benefited
by the proposed work.
Section 4. That the Board of Supervisors of the
County of :Los Angeles is requested hereby to approve said
"Proposed :~esolution of Intention" and to consent to the
work and t~e formation of the assessment district described
therein, a~d the Board of Directors of the City of Pasadena
and the City Council of each of the Cities of Sierra Madre
and Monrovia (said work extends into each of said cities but
no part of said cities is included in said assessment district)
be and eac~ of them is requested hereby to approve said
"Proposed Resolution of Intention" and to consent to the said
work and. ~nprovement and the formation of the assessment dis-
trict described in said "Proposed Resolution of Intention."
Section 5. That the City Clerk of the City of
Arcadia is hereby authorized and directed to file a certified
copy of this resolution, together with a certified copy of
said "Proposed Resolution of Intention" with each of said
legislative bodies whose consent is herein requested.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 4th day of
November, 1947.

resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of said
