RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, ORDERING
THE CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN SANITARY
SEWERS AND APPURTENANCES AND APPUR-
TENANT WORK IN CERTAIN STREETS. ALIEYS,
EASEMENTS AND PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF
ARCADIA. IN THE CITIES OF MONROVIA,
PASADENA AND SIERRA MADRE. AND IN
UNINCORPORATED TERRITORY OF THE COUNTY
OF' LOS ANGELES; AND ORDERING POSTING
AND PUBLICATION OF NOTICES INVITING
SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS.
WHEREAS. this City council, on the lOth day of
November. 1947. duly adopted Resolution No. 1725. declaring
its intention to order certain work to be done under and
pursuant to the "Improvement Act of 1911", Division 7 of
the Streets and Highways Codo of the state of California;
and
W1DmiEAS. said Resolution No. 1725 was duly pub-
lished and llotices of the passage thereof were duly posted
and mailed, and affidavits of publication, posting and
mailing have been duly filed; and
WlmREAS, hearing has been duly held by this city
council at which all written protests or objections were
duly present;ed and read and all persons desiring to be
heard therec.n were heard. and this City Council gave all
persona preSlllnt an opportunity to be heard in respect of
any matter relating to the improvements proposed in said
Resolution lfo. 1725 or the boundaries of the assessment dis-
trict described therein or in any way relating to the pro-
ceedings proposed by ssid Resolution No. 1725; and
WHEREAS, all such persons desiring to be heard
were heard by this City Council; and
WHEREAS, protests have not been made by the
owners of' more than one-half of the area of the property
to be assessed for the improvements. and all protests
and objections, both written and oral, have been over-
ruled and denied by this City Council, and this City
Council has acquired jurisdiction to order the work
described in said Resolution No. 1725;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
Arcadia, California DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND
ORDER as follows:
Section l. That the public interest end con-
venience ~equire and the City Council of the City of
Arcadia hereby orders the following work to be done and
improvements to be made, to wit: all that certain work
and improvement described in said Resolution No. 1725,
adopted by this City Council on November lO, 1947 and on
file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of
Arcadia. Reference is hereby made to said Resolution
No. 1725 and to plans, profiles and detailed drawings
for such work and improvement, which are designated
"Plan No. C-l7l," consisting of Sheets numbered 1 to l27,
both inclusive, on file in the office of the City Clerk
of the City of Arcadia and to specifications for said
work and J.mprovement, which are designated "Specifications
for sanitary Sewer Improvements Assessment District
No. \7-43," also on file in the office of said City Clerk,

for a more particular description of said work and im-
provement and tor the grades at which such work and
improvement shall be done.
Section 2. That this City Council has deter-
mined and declared that the contemplated work and improve-
ment hereinbefore mentioned, in the opinion of this City
Council, is of more than local or ordinary public benefit,
and this CIty Council has made the expense of said work
and improvement chargeable upon a district, which district
this City Council has declared to be the district bene-
fi ted by the said work and improvement and to be assessed
to pay the cost and expense thereof. For the particular
description of said assessment district reference is
hereby made to said Resolution No. 1725.
Section 3. That this City Council has deter-
mined and declared that serial bonds, bearing interest at
the rate of six per cent (6%) per annum shall be issued
to represent each assessment of twenty-five dollars ($25)
or over remaining unpaid for thirty (30) days after the
date ot the warrant. Said serial bonds shall extend for
a period ending nine (9) years from the second day of
January next succeeding the next october 15th following
their date. Said bonds shall be issued under the
nlmprovemen'~ Act of 1911", Division 7 of the streets and
Highways Code of the state of California.
Sllction 4. That said work and improvement and
all proceedings therefor shall be done and performed under

and in accordance with said "Improvement Act of 1911."
Section 5. That the City Clerk of the City of
Arcadia 1s hereby directed to post conspicuously for ten
(10) days on or near the chamber door of this City Council,
in the manner and form requ1red by law, a notice inviting
sealed proposals or bids for doing said work ordered hereby,
and said City Clerk 1s hereby directed to publish twice in
the ARCADIA TRIBUNE, a newspaper of general circulation
published and circulated in the City of Arcadia and in the
County of Los Angeles, and twice in the SIERRA MADRE NEWS,
a newspaper published and circulated in said County, a
notice inviting such sealed proposals or bids for doing
said work and referring to the specifications on file in
the office of said City Clerk, and said notices shall con-
tain the rratters and things required by law. The time
fixed for the opening of bids shall be 8:00 O'clock P. M.,
March 2, 1948, and proposals or bids may be delivered to
the City Clerk of the City of Arcadia up to that hour.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 3rd day of
February, 1948.
