RESOLUTION NO. 1.J 4- S'
RESOLUTION DETERMINING THE GENERAL PREVAIL-
ING RATE OF PER DIEM WAGE AND THE GENERAL
PREVAILING RATE FOR LEGAL HOLIDAY AND OVER-
TIME WORK IN THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
FOR CERTAIN CRAFTS OR TYPES OF WORKMEN.
WHEREAS, this City Council has by its Resolution
No. 1730 ordered certain work and improvement, said work and
improvement being more particularly described in its Resolu-
tion No. 1725, and shown on plans, profiles and detailed
drawings designated "Plan No. C-l71" on file in the office
of the City Clerk of the City of Arcadia, and described in
specifications designated "Specifications for Sanitary
Sewer Improvements Assessment District No. W-43", also
on file in the office of said City Clerk; and
WHEREAS, this City Council has ascertained the
general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality
in, which said work is to be performed for each craft or
type ,of workman needed to execute the contract for said
work and improvement, and this city Council has ascertained
the general prevailing rate for legal holiday and overtime
work in said locality for each craft of type of workman
needed to execute said contract;
NOW, THEREFO~ the City council of the Ci ty of
Arcadia, California, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND
ORDER as follows:
Section l. That the general prevailing rate of
per diem wages in the locality in which said work is to be
performed for each craft or type of workman needed to execute
the contract for said work is determined to be as follows,

Indentured apprentices under Section
1777.5 of the Labor Code of the
State of California who are employed
for said work shall be paid in ac-
cordance with said Section 1777.5.
Section 2. That the general prevailing rate for
overtime work in said locality for each craft or type of
workman needed to execute said contract ia determined to be
one and one-half (Iii> times the said prevailing hourly rate
of wage f,jr each hour of working time more than eight (8 >
hours, during anyone calendar day where such work is re-
quired in cases of extraordinary emergencies caused by fire,
flood or danger to life or property. Said rate is determined
to be the general prevailing rate for working time on Sundays
and the following seven legal holidays, to wit: New Year's
Day, Decoration Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Armistice
Day, Tharutsgiving Day and Christmas Day. If any of the
above named holidays occur on Sunday, the Monday next suc-
ceeding sllall be considered a legal holiday. Notwithstanding

the geneI'al provisions hereinabove set forth, the straight
rates as specified for flagmen, guards and watchmen are
applicable to a maximum of eight (8) hours per calendar day
including Saturdays. Sundays and holidays for a total of
not over forty (40) hours per week, but the overtime rate
hereinabove set forth applies to flagmen, guards and watch-
men for any working time in excess of eight (8) hours per
day or forty (40) hours per week.
Section 3. Said general prevailing rates shall
be specified in the call for bids for said contract and in
the contrllct itself.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 3rd day of
February, 1948.
