THE CITY COU;~CIL OF THE CITY OF ARCHDIA DOES HEREBY DETERMINE,
ORDf.R ,,;m RESOLV::; JiS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the public interest and convenience require,
and it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
to order the following work and improvement to be done in said City
of Arcadia, to wit:
First: Tha~ a concrete curb be constructed on the Northerly
side of Californ:la Street from the Easterly line of SantaAnita Avenue
to the Westerly line of First Avenue, including a curb return at the
northeast corner of said California Street and Santa Anita Avenue,
except ~here such concrete curb is now in place to the official line
and Grade, and is in good condition.
Second: That a concrete Butter be constructed on the Northerly
side of California Street from the Easterly line of Santa Anita Avenue
to the \,'esterly line of First Avenue~
Third: That a concrete sidewalk be constructed on the Northerly
side of California Street from the Easterly line of Santa Anita Avenue
to the ~esterly line of First Avenue, including a sidewalk return at
the northeast corner of said California Street and Santa Anita Avenue,
except where such concrete sidewalk is now in place to the official
line and grade, and is in good condition.
Fourth: That the roadway space in said portion of California
Street between the Northerly gutter line thereof and the existing oi~
macadam pavement in said portion of California Street be graded and
paved with an oil mac adam pavement two and one-quarter (2i-) inches'
thick.
SECTION 2. That the grade to which the work hereinbefore des-

cribed shall be done and the improvement made as provided in this
resolution is shown on Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-173, on
file in the office of the City Engineer of said city, to which Pro-
file reference is hereby made for the description of such grade.
SECTION 3. All of the foregoing work shall be done in ac-
cordance wi th s aid Profile an d Improvement Plan No. C-173 on file
in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia~
All work on grading and construction of concrete curbs, gut-
ters and sidewalks shall be in accordance with the following
specifications on file in the office of the City Engineer of said
City of Arcadia, to wit: "Standard Specifications No. 0 for the
construction of curbs, sidewalks, gutters~ oil macadam and concrete
pavement."
All work on the construction of street pavement shall be in
accordance with the following specifications on file in the office
of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia, to wit: "Standard
Specifications No. 3 for the construction of 2t inch oil maoadam
pavement and resurfacing."
Said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-173 and the Spec-
ifications hereinabove referred to were adopted by Resolution
No. 1786 of said City Council of the City of Arcadia, and the same
are hereby made a part of this Resolution and are hereby referred
to for a more particular description of said work. All street~
LnQ avenues referred to in this Re301ution are public streets and
avenues of said City of Arcadia~
SECTION 4. That said contemplated work and improvement in the
opinion of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, is of more than
local or ordinary public benefit and said City Council hereby makes
the expense of said work and improvement chargeable upon the District,
which District said City Council hereby declares to be the District
benefited by saij work and improvement and to be assessed to pay the
costs and expensss thereof, which said District shall include all
those lots in ths said City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State
of California, f~onting on and adjacent to the Northerly side of

said portion of California Street.
A plat or map of said District indicating by a boundary line the
extent of the lands included in the proposed Assessment District, was
approved and adopted by Resolution No. 1787 of the City Council of
said City of ArcE,dia, and is on file in the office of the City Engineer
of the City of Arcadia. Reference is hereby made to said plat or map
for a further, full and complete description of said Assessment Dis-
trict, which said plat or map is designated as Assessment District
No. W-45, and said map so on file shall govern for all details as to
the ,extent of such Assessment District.
SECTION 5. Said City Council also determines and declares that
Serial Bonds shall be issued to represent each assessment of Twenty-
five (~25.00) Dollars, ,or more, remaining unpaid for thirtJT (30) days'
after the date of the warrant to represent the expenses of said work
and improvement. Said serial bonds shall extend over a period of nine
(9) years from thl~ second day of January next succeeding the next
October 15th following their date and an even annual proportion of the
principal sum theI'eof shall be payable by coupon on the second day
of January of each year, follo.ling the next October 15th after their
date, until the whole is paid, and the interest shall be payable semi-
annually by coupon on the second days of January and July respectively
of each year after their date at the rate of six (6%) per cent per
annum on all sums unpaid until the wholewf said principal and interest
are paid. Said bonds and interest thereon shall be payable at the
office of the City Treasurer of the City of Arcadia.
SECTION 6. Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, the 3rd day
of August, 1948, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock P.M. on said day, in the
Council Chamber of the City Hall in said City of Arcadia, any and all
persons having objections to said proposed uork or improvement or to
the extent of the district to be assessed, or both, may appear before
said City Council and show cause why said proposed work or improvement
should not be carried out in accordance with this resolution.

SECTION 7. All proceedings for the aforesaid work and improve-
ment and for the issuance of said Bonds shall be had and taken under
and in accordanc:e \"lith the/provisions of an Act of the Leeislature of
the State of California, known and designated as the "Improvement Act
of 1911", beine Division 7 of Streets and High"ays Code of the State
of California.
SECTION 8. Notice is hereby given that in accordance \"lith the
provisions of Section 2804 of the Streets and Highways Code of the
State of California, as ~lended, the v~itten waiver of the ovmers
of more than 60~ in area of the property subject to assessment for
said proposed i~provement described herein having been signed and
filed with the City Clerk of the City of Arcadia, the investigation
and the report of the City Engineer provided for in The Specia] Asess-
ment Investigation, Limitation and Majority Protest Act of 1931, being
Division 4 of the Streets and Hiehways Code of the State of California,
are hereby specifically waived.
SECTION 9. The Superintendent of Streets shalllpost or cause
to be posted conspicuously mong the line of said contemplated "ork
or improvement and also along all the open streets within the district
liable to be assessed and hereinabove described, notices of the pas-
sage of this resolution in the manner and form required by law.
SECTION 10. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution and shall cause the same to be published twice in the
Arcadia Tribune llnd Arcadia News, a newspaper of general circulation,
published and circulated in the City of Arcadia and hereby designated
for that purpose; the City Clerk shall also mail notice of the
adoption of this resolution to all persons owning real property
proposed to be aElsessed, whose names and addresses appear on the last
equalized assessment roll for City taxes, or as knovlD to said Clerk.
Such notlce shall be Given in the manner and form required by said
"Improvement Act of 1911, being Division 7, Streets and Highways Code

I HERi:BY CgRTIFY that t he foregoing Resolution \7aS adopted at
a re3ular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held
on the 6th day of July, 1948, by the affirmative vote of ~t least
three coun€ilmen, to wit:
