RESOLUTION NO. 1797
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
ORDEfiING CERTAIN WORK AND IMPROVEl~NT TO BE DONE ON PORTION
OF CALIFill!NIA STR.EET, IN THE CITY OF ARCADIA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the public interest and convenience require that
certain work and improvement be done in the City of Arcadia, and the
City Council of the City of Arcadia hereby orders the same to be done
in accordance with Specifications and Improvement Plan No. C-173. on
file in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia,
adopted for said work and under the direction and to the satisfaction
of the Su~intenKent of Streets of said City of Arcadia; that Reso-
lution of Intention No. 1788, heretofore adopted by this Council on
the 6th day of JUly, 1948, contains a complete description of the
work and improvement to be done pursuant to this Resolutiom, and ref-
erence is heretlY made to said Resolution of Intention No. 1788, for
a complete description of said work and improvement.
SECTION 2.. That the grade to which the work hereinabove des-
cribed shallbe done and the improvement made as provided in this Reso-
lution is shown on Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-173, on file
in the office of the City Engineer of said City, to which Profile
reference is hereby made for the description of such grade.
SECTION 3. All of the foregoing work shall be done in accordance
with said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-173, on file in the
office of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia.
All work on grading and construction of concrete curbs, gutters
and sidewalks shall be in accordance with the following specifications
on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia,
to\"/it: "Standard Specifications No. 0 for the construction of curbs.
sidewalks, gutters. oil macadam and concrete pavement."
All work on the construction of street pavement shall be in
accordance with the following specifications on file in the office
of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia, towit:

"standard Specifications No. 3 for the construction of 2i inch oil
macadam pavement and resurfacing."
Said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-173 and the Specifications
hereinabove referred to were adopted by Resolution No. l786 of said City
Council of the City of Arcadia, and the same are hereby made a part
of this Resolution and are hereby referred to for a more particular des-
cription of said work. All streets and avenues referred to in this
Resolution are ~ublic streets and avenues of said City of Arcadia.
SECTION 4. That said comtemplated work and improvement in the
opinion of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, is of more than
local of ordinary public benefit and said City Council hereby makes
the expense of :3aid vfork and improvement chargeable upon the Distri ct
which District :laid City Council hereby declares to be assessed to pay
the costs and e;cpenses thereof, which said District shall include all
those lots in the said City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State
of California, frontine on and adjacent to the northerly side of said
portion of California Street aforesaid. A plat or map of said District
indicating by a boundary line the extent of the lands included in said
District Vias approved and adopted by Resolution No. 1787 of the Cit~
of Arcadia on the 6th day <llJf July, 1948, and is on file in the office
of the City ];;ngineer, of the City of Arcadia; reference is hereby made
to said plat or map for a further, full and complete description of
said Assessment District, which said plat or map is designa~ed as
Assessment District No. W-4~. and said map so on file shall govern for
all details as to the extent of such Assessment District.
SECTION 5. Said City Council also determines and declares that
Serial Bonds shsll beissued to represl3mlt each assessment of Twenty-
five Dollars (~25.00), or more, remaining unpaid for thirty (30) days
after the date of the Warrant to represent the expenses of said work
and improvement. Said Serial Bonds shall extend over a period ending
nine (9) years from the second day of January next succeeding the next
October l5th following their date and an even annual proportion of the

principal sum thereof shall be payable by coupon on the second day of
Janual'y of each year, following the next Oc1tober 15th after their date,
until the whole is paid, and the interest shall be payable semi-annually
by coupon on the second days of January and July respectively of each
year after their date at the rate of six pr cent (6%) per annum on all
sums unpaid until the whole of said principal and interest are paid.

Said Bonds and interest thereon shall be payable at the office of the
City Treasurer of the City of Arcadia.
SECTION 6., All proceedings for the aforesaid work and improve-
ment and for tr~ issuance of said Bonds shall be had and taken under
and in accordance with the provisions of an Act of the Legislature of
the State of California, known and designated as the "Improvement Act
of 1911, being Division 7, Streets and Highways Code of the State of
California. "
SECTION 7. The Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a weekly
newspaper of general circulation, published and circulated in said
Ci ty of Arcadia" is hereby designated as the newspaper in which notice
of said work and improvement inviting sealed proposals whall be pub-
lished in the manner and form and by the persons required by law.
SECTION 8. The City Clerk of said City of Arcadia is hereby
directed to post conspicuously for five days, on or near the Council
Chamber door of said City Council, in the manner and form reqlired by
law, a notice, together with the Specifications therefor, inviting
sealed proposals or bids for doing said work and said City Clerk is
also directed to publish twice in said newspaper designated as afore-
said in the maner and form re~red by law, a notice inviting sealed
prpposals or bids for doing said work, and referring to the Specifi-
cations posted or on file. Said notice shall re~ire a certified
check or bond, either, as prescribed by law for an amount not less than
ten per cent of the aggregate of the proposal.
Said sealed proposals or bids shall be delivered to the City
Clerk of said C:lty of Arcadia on or before eight o'clock P.M., on
August 17, 1948; bids will be opened on said day and hour.

SECTION 9. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was adopted at a
regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held on the
3rd day of August, 1948, by the affirmative vote of at least three
Councilmen, towit:
