THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF

READOPTING THE OFFICIAL 5-STEP SALARY
SCHEDULE FOR THE VARIOUS POSITIONS IN
THE CITY EMPLOY, ESTABLISHING AND
REAFFIRMING THE VARIOUS POSITIONS IN
THE CITY EMPLOY, ASSIGNING NEl1 SCHEDULE
NUI\ffiERS TO SUCH POSITIONS, AND ALTERING
ANJ ADJUSTING THE MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM
COMPENSATION FOR ALL POSITIONS IN THE
crrY EMPLOY, AND AMENDING ALL PRIOR
RESOLUTIONS TO CONFORM HEREWITH,
HEREBY DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLL0\1S:
SECTION 1. That the Personnel Board and the City Manager,
in cooperation with the administrative staff of the City, have re-
viewed the personnel system of the City of Arcadia and the compensa-
tion of all officers and employees of the City of Arcadia and have
made their recommendations thereon, That the City Council has re-
viewed the aforesaid recommendations and the subject matter gener-
ally,
SECTION 2, That the following 5-step plan salary schedule
heretofore adopted by the City of Arcadia is hereby readopted and
reaffirmed:

following positions within the unclassified and classified service
of the City of Arcadia are effective July 1, 1959, established, re-
established, reaffirmed and approved, respectively, as the case may
be, and effective as of July 1, 1959, the following rates or amount
of compensation are made applicable to and reaffirmed with respect
to the various offices and positions within the city employ, and
effective July 1, 1959, all positions in the classified and unclas-
sified service of the City of Arcadia heretofore created and es-
tablished and not hereinafter or otherwise established, reestab-
lished, reaffirmed or approved are hereby abolished, to wit:

SECTION 4. That Resolution No. 3139, adopted June 16,
1959, entitled -'A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, APPOINTING AND EMPLOYING LAWRENCE E. COOK AS
CITY MANAGER, D3FINING HIS DUTIES AND ESTABLISHING HIS RATE OF COM-
PENSATION &: REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 2782" is hereby reaffirmed.

,SECTION 5. That during the period from July 1, 1959 to
April 30, 1960 the sum of one hundred fifty and nO/100 dollars
($150.00) per month be paid to the City Clerk in payment of secre-
tarial or clerical services beyond and in addition to the duties of
the City Clerk as specified in the City Charter, rendered to or upon
the request of ~he City Council.
SECTION 6. That effective July 1, 1959 Resolution No.
2327, adopted January 20, 1953, entitled "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, APPOINTING JAMES A.
NICKLIN CITY ATTORNEY, SPECIFYING HIS DUTIES AND CUMPENSATION, AND
DIRECTING TH~ PHEPARATION OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE", as amended by
Resolution No. ;~432, adopted September 15, 1953, and as amended
further by Reso~ution No. 2634, adopted on June 21, 1955; by Reso-
lution No. 2898, adopted June 18, 1957; by Resolution No. 3021,
adopted May 26, 1958; and by Resolution No. 3031, adopted July 1,
1958, be and the same is hereby still further amended by amending
Section 2 thereof to read as follows:
"SECTION 2. That effective July 1, 1959, said appointee
shall receive aa compensation for his services the sum of eight
hundred seventy..five and nO/100 dollars ($875,00) per month, payable
in equal semi-monthly installments of four hundred thirty-seven and
50/100 dollars ($437.50) at the times prOVided for the payment of
regular city employees. That said appointee shall be paid addi-
tional compensation for services rendered in actions in court, for
appearances in hearings before administrative boards and commissions

other than city boards and commissions, and for proceedings taken
under any statutory improvement act, and for all other matters he
may be instructed to do and for which extra compensation is to be
in an amount comr1ensurate with the value of the services rendered
and in all cases shall be subject to the approval of the City
Council. "
SECTION 7. That effective July 1, 1959, the compensa-
tion of the Director of Public Works shall be one thousand eighty
and nO/100 dollars ($1,080.00) per month, payable in equal semi-
monthly installments of five hundred forty and nO/100 dollars
($540,00) in the manner and at the times provided for the payment
of regular city employees.
SECTION 8, That any temporary employee, at the discre-
tion of the appointing power and with the approval of the City
Manager, may be paid up to the maximum amount specified for the
position thus filled by such employee, and may be paid less than
the salary prescr:Lbed for a probationary or permanent employee in
such position, That all part-time employees and all other employ-
ees in the classified service, as to which a maximum or stated com-
pensation is hereinbefore specified, may be paid any sum up to and
including or any sum less than the maximum compensation hereinbe-
fore specified.
SECTION 9. That all prior resolutions inconsistent in
whole or in part Idth any of the foregoing sections are hereby
amended to confor~ with the provisions hereof.
SECTION 10, The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution,
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held
