A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, GIVING
NOTICE OF THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF
CERTAIN TERRITORY ADJACENT AND
CONTIGUOUS TO THE PRESENT CITY LIMITS
OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, THE SAME BEING
SITUATED NEAR THE SOUTHERLY PORTION OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA AND DESIGNATED AS
"ANNEXATION NO. 19, SOUTH ARCADIA
UNINHABITED."
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES HEREBY
DETE~1INE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That pursuant to the "Annexation of Uninhabited
Territory Act of 1939," as amended, the City Council of the City of
Arcadia, on its own motion, does hereby initiate proceedings for the
annexation to the City of Arcadia of certain uninhabited territory
contiguous and adjacent to the city limits of the City of Arcadia
and situated near the southerly portion of the City of Arcadia as
more particula~ly described in Section 4 hereinafter.
SECTION 2. That the City Council of the City of Arcadia
desires to annex such uninhabited territory to promote and insure
the proper integration of said territory with the contiguous area
already within the limits of the City of Arcadia, and to comply with
the stated desires of many owners of property in such area.
SECTIvN 3. That the said territory is uninhabited, is
contiguous to the City of Arcadia, and is not a part of any other
municipal corporation.
SECTION 4. That pursuant to the "Annexation of Uninhab-
ited Territory Act of 1939," as amended, the City Council of the
City of Arcadi~ does hereby give notice of said proposed annexation;
that said territory is hereby designated as "Annexation No. 19, South
Arcadia Uninhabited," and is particularly described and bounded as
follows:

That certain territory situated in the County of Los
Angeles, state of California, which borders on the present
boundary line of the City of Arcadia in the vicinity of Live
Oak Avenue, bounded and described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the boundary of the City of
Arcadia as same existed on July 15, 1959, said point lying 228
feet westerly of the northerly prolongation of the center line
of El Monte Avenue 72 feet wide; thence southerly, parallel to
said center line, to a point 330 feet south of the southerly line
of Live Oak Avenue 55 feet wide; thence easterly, parallel with
the southerly line of said Live Oak Avenue, 228 feet more or less
to the center line of said El Monte Avenue; thence northerly along
last mentioned center line to the intersection with the westerly
prolongation of the southerly line of the first alley south of
Live Oak Avenue in Tract No. 13935 as per map recorded in Book.
285, pages 13 and 14, of Maps in the office of the recorder of
Los Angeles County; thence easterly along the southerly line of
said alley to the westerly line of Arcadia Wash, 80 feet wide;
thence northerly along said westerly line to the southerly line of
Live Oak Avenue 100 feet wide; thence easterly along said south-
erly line to the westerly line of McCullough Avenue 30 feet wide;
thence southerly along said westerly line to a point of intersec-
tion with the westerly prolongation of the southerly line of the
first alley south of Live Oak Avenue in Tract No. 12049 as per map
recorded in Book 224, page 21, of Maps in the office of said re-
corder; thence easterly along last mentioned prolongation and the
southerly line to the westerly line of Lot 1, Tract No. 10260 as
per map recorded in Book 219, page 20, of Maps in the office of
said recorder; thence southerly along the westerly line of said
Lot 1 to the southwest corner thereof; thence easter~y along the
southerly line of Lots 1, 2 and 3 of said Tract No. 10260 and along
its easterly prolongation to the center line of WeIland Avenue 60
feet wide; thence southerly along said center line to its inter-
section with the westerly prolongation of the southerly line of
Lot 1, Tract No. 10898, as per map recorded in Book 189, page 43,
in the office of said recorder; thence easterly along the last
mentioned prolongation and along the southerly line of Lots 1, 2,
3, 4, 5 and 6 of said Tract No. 10898 to the southwest corner of
Lot 7 of said Tract No. 10898; thence northerly along the westerly
line of said Lot 7 to the southerly line of Live Oak Avenue, as
same is shown on map of said Tract No. 10898; thence easterly along
the southerly line of Live Oak Avenue and along its easterly pro-
longation to the intersection with the center line of Double Drive
80 feet wide as same is shown on map of said Tract No. 10898;
thence southerly along the last mentioned center line to its inter-
section with the westerly prolongation of the southerly line of
Lot 5, Tract No. 11539, as per map recorded in Book 255, page 35,
of Maps in the office of said recorder; thence easterly along said
prolongation and along the southerly line of said Lot 5 to the
westerly line of Lot 13, Tract No. 15628, as per map recorded in
Book 354, page 25, of Maps in the office of said recorder; thence
northerly along the westerly line of said Lot 13 to the southerly
line of the first alley south of Live Oak Avenue in said Tract No.
15628; thence easterly along the southerly line of said alley and
along its easterly prolongation to the center line of Tyler Avenue
80 feet wide; thence southerly along the center line of Tyler Ave-
nue to its intersection with the westerly prolongation of the

northerly line of Lynrose Street, 60 feet wide; thence easterly
along last mentioned prolongation and northerly line of said street
to its intersection with the westerly line of Lenore Avenue, 80
feet wide; thence northerly along the westerly line of said avenue
to its intersection with the westerly prolongation of the southerly
line of the first alley south of Live Oak Avenue in Tract No. 15233
as per map recorded in Book 332, page 30, of Maps in the office of
said recorder; thence easterly along last mentioned prolongation
and along the southerly line of said alley to the westerly boundary
of the City of Arcadia as same existed on July 15, 1959; thence
northerly, easterly, northeasterly, northwesterly, northerly, south-
westerly and wasterly along the various courses and distances of the
boundary of the City of Arcadia as same existed on July 15, 1959, to
the point of beginning.

SECTION 5. That the City of Arcadia hereby gives notice
of and fixes September 29, 1959, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock P.M.,
in the Council Chamber of the Arcadia City Hall, 240 West Hunting-
ton Drive, Arcadia, California, as the day, hour and place when and
where the City Council of the City of Arcadia will hear protests
made by any person owning real property within the territory above
described. At any time before the hour set for hearing objections,
any owner (as defined by Section 35312 of the California Government
Code) of property within the above-described territory may file
written protest against the annexation. The protest shall state
the name of the owner of the property affected and the description
and area of the property in general terms.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk of the City of Arcadia shall
certify to the adoption of this resolution, and shall cause a copy
hereof to be p'Jblished at least twice, but not oftener than once a
week, in the Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of gen-
eral circulation published in the City of Arcadia, and also in a
newspaper of general circulation published outside of the City of
Arcadia but in the County of Los Angeles, said publication to be
complete at least twenty days prior to the date set for the hearing
aforesaid; and the City Clerk shall also cause written notice of
such proposed ~mnexation to be mailed to each person to whom land
within the territory proposed to be annexed, is assessed in the last
equalized county assessment roll available on the date the proceed-
ings were initj.ated, at the address shown on said assessment roll
or as known to said City Clerk, and to any person who has filed his
name and address and the designation of the land in which he has
any interest, either legal or equitable, with said City Clerk. In
the event any land within the above-described territory is owned
by a county, the City Clerk shall also cause written notice of such
proposed annexation to be mailed to the Board of Supervisors of
such county. ~he written notice by mail shall be given not less

than twenty days before the first public hearing on said proposed
annexation.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Arcadia, held on the 4th day of August, 1959, by the affirmative
vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Balser, Jacobi, Phillips and Reibold
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Camphouse
