HomeMy WebLinkAbout3177 0-1A ~~/.;.J RESOLUTION NO. 3177 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF , THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE INSTALLATION OF SIGNALS AT BALDWIN AVENUE AND FOOTHILL BOULEVARD IN THE CITY OF ARCADIA. WHEREAS, that portion of Foothill Boulevard between Bald- win Avenue and Michillinda Avenue is a state highway under the jurisdiction of county and state officials and not within the jurisdiction of the City of Arcadia; and, WHEREAS, automobiles travel at a very high rate of speed between Michillinda and Santa Anita Avenues and numerous accidents have occurred in this area as a result thereof; and, WHEREAS, numerous communications sent by the Police De- partment of the City of Arcadia to the State Division of Highways have brought no results, although past discussion and contacts with the State Division of Highways have led Arcadia officials to believe that electric signals would be constructed at the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Foothill Boulevard. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the State of California, Department of Public Works, Division of Highways, be and they are hereby urgently requested, without further delay, to install electrically operated traffic signals at the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Foothill Boulevard in the City of Arcadia. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and shall cause a certified copy hereof to be forward to J. W. Vickrey, State Highway Engineer, Sacramento, Cali- fornia; Edward T. Telford, Assistant State Highway Engineer, Division VII, and Lyman R. Gillis, District Engineer, Division VII, 120 South Spring Street, Los Angeles, California; each member of the California Highway CommiSSion, Sacramento, California; Ernest R. Geddes and -1- 3177 Frank Lanterman, State Assemblymen; and Richard Richards, State Sena- tor. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted at an adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held on the 22nd day of October, 1959, by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Jacobi, Camphouse, Reibold and Phillips NOES :.
