A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO CALL A
SJ?ECIAL ELECTION' IN CERTAIN INHABITED
TERRITORY CONTIGUOUS TO SAID CITY
pnOPOSED TO BE ANNEXED THERETO, Ftil.
THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE
QUALIFIED ELECTORS RESIDING IN SAID
TERRITORY THE QUESTION WHETHER OR NOT
SAID TERRITORY SHALL BE ANNEXED TO THE
CITY OF ARCADIA, AND FIXING A TIME AND
PLACE WHEN AND WHERE ANY PERSON OWNING
REAL PROPERTY WITHIN SUCH TERRITORY

AND SHOW CAUSE WHY SUCH TERRITORY
SHOULD NOT BE SO ANNEXED (ANNEXATION
NO. l7-A, SOUTHWEST ARCADIA INHABITED).
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTIIN 1. That it is the intention of the City Council
of the City of Arcadia to call a special election to be held on the
24th day' of March, 1959, in certain inhabited territory contiguous
to said city and proposed to be annexed thereto, for the purpose of
~ submitting to the qualified electors residing in said territory the
question whether or not said territory shall be annexed to the City
of Arcadia.

That the boundaries of the territory pro-
posed to be anne,xed located in the County of Los Angeles, State of
California, 'are speCifically described as follows:

Beginning at a point in the boundary of the City of Ar-
cadia, as same existed on March 1, 1957, said point lying in the
northerly line of Lot 2, Bl.ck C, Santa Anita Land Company's Tract,
as per map recorded in Book 6, page 137, of Maps in the office of
the Recorder of Los Angeles County, 247.14 feet easterly of the
northwest corner of said Lot 2; thence southerly 327.11 feet along
a line parallel with the easterly line of said Lot 2 to the south-
erly line thereof; thence easterly along the southerly lines of
Lots 2 and 1 of said Block C to the southeast corner of said Lot 1;
thence easterly in a direct line to a point in the westerly line
of Lot 2, Block B of said Santa Anita Land Company's Tract, said
point lying 10.23 feet northerly ft'?m the southwest corner of said
last mentioned Lot 2; thence easterly parallel with the northerly
line of said last mentioned Lot 2 a distance of 300 feet; thence
southerly parallel with the westerly line of said last mentioned
Lot 2 to the southerly line thereof; thence easterly along the
southerly lines of Lots 2 and 1 of said Block B to the southeast
corner of Lot 1 of said Block B; thence easterly in a direct line
to the southwelJt corner of Lot 2 01: Block A of said Santa Anita
Land Company's Tract; thence 378 feet easterly along the southerly
line of Lot 2 of said Block A to a point; thence southerly along a
line, said line being parallel with the easterly line of Lot 3 of
said Block A, to a point in the southerly line of said Lot 3;
thence easterly along said last mentioned southerly line a dis-
tance of 3 feet; thence southerly parallel with the easterly line
of Lot 6 of said Block A to a point in the northerly line of Lot 7
of said Block A; thence westerly along last mentioned northerly
line a distance of 15 feet; thence southerly along a line parallel
with the easterly line of said Lot 7 to the southerly line of said
last mentioned lot; thence southerly in a direct line to the ~
northwest corner of Tract 19413 as per map recorded in Book 492,:
pages 4 and 5, of Maps in the office of said Recorder; thence .
southerly and easterly along the westerly and southerly boundary
lines of said last mentioned tract to a pOint in the southerly
line of Lot 7 of said last mentioned tract, said point being the
point of intersection of said last mentioned southerly line with
the westerly line of Cambury Avenue, 25 feet wide as shown on map
of Tract 15797 recorded in Book 382, pages 38 and 39 of Maps in
the office of said Recorder; thence southerly in a direct line to
the southeasterly corner of Lot 12 of said last mentioned tract,
being a point in the northerly line of Lot 6 of Block G of the
previously mentioned Santa Anita Land Company's Tract; thence
easterly along the northerly line of said last mentioned Lot 6 to
the northeast corner thereof; thence southerly along the westerly
lines and along the southerly prolongation of the westerly lines
of Lots 5 and 8 of said Block G and continuing southerly along
the westerly lines of Lots 1 and 4 of Block H of said last men-
tioned tract to a point 50 feet southerly of the r.orthwest corner
of Lot 4 of said Block H, said point being the northwest corner
of Tract 15881 as per map recorded in Book 347, pages I and 2, of
Maps in the office of said Recorder; thence southerly along the
westerly line of said Tract 15881 to the southwest corner thereof,
said last mentioned southwest corner being the northwest corner
of Lot 7, Tract 16712, as per map recorded in Book 384, page 40,
of Maps in the office of said Recorder; thence southerly along
the westerly line of said Lot 7 to the southwest corner thereof;

20 of said Tract 16712; thence southerly along the easterly line of
said Lot 20 to the southeast corner thereof, said last mentioned
southeast corner being the northwest corner of Lot 8, Block H of
the previously mentioned Santa Anita Land Company's Tract; thence
southerly along the westerly line of Lot 8 of said Block H and
along its southerly prolongation to the southwest corner of Lot 1,
Block 0 of said last mentioned tract, said last mentioned southwest
corner being the northwest corner of Tract 18002, as per map re-
corded in Book l~l, pages 38 and 39, of Maps in the office of said
Recorder; thence in a generally easterly, southerly and westerly
direction along the various courses and distances of the boundary
of said Tract 18002 to the northeast corner of Lot 11 of said Tract
18002; thence southerly in a direct line to the southeast corner of
said last mentioned lot; thence westerly along the southerly line of
said last mentioned lot to a line that is parallel with and distant
280 feet westerly, measured at right angles, from the westerly line
of Baldwin Avenue 55 feet wide as shown on said last mentioned map;
thence southerly along said line' parallel with and distant westerly
280 feet from the westerly line of said Baldwin Avenue to the north-
erly line of Garibaldi Avenue 60 feet wide as shown on said last
mentioned map; thence easterly along said northerly line 90 feet
more or less to a point of intersection with the northerly pro-
longation of the westerly line of Lot I, Tract 6561, as per map
recorded.in Book 72, pages 34 and 35, of Maps, in the office of
said Recorder; thence southerly along said prolongation to the
northwest corner of said Lot 1; thence southerl;y along the westerly
line of Lots I, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of said Tract 6561 to the south-
west corner of said Lot 6; thence southerl;y in a direct line to the
northwest corner of Lot 7 of said Tract 6561; thence southerly
along the westerly line ot Lots 7, 8, 9 and 10 to the southwest
corner of Lot 10 of said last mentioned tract; thence westerly
along the northerly line ot Lot 14 of said Tract 6561 to the north-
west corner thereof; thence southerly along the westerly line of
said Lot 14, and along its southerly prolongation to a point in the
southerly line of Las Tunas Drive. as described in Final Judgment
in Case No. 269,622 of the Superior Court of the State of CalifOrnia
in and tor the Countl of Los Angeles, a certified copy ot which is
recorded in Book l22~, page 277 of Official RecordS, in the office
of said Recorder; thence westerly along said southerly line to the
easterly line of Rowland Avenue, 60 feet wide as described in deed
to County of Los Angeles, recorded in Book 14455, page 344 of
Official Records, in the office of said re'corder; thence southerly
along last mentioned easterly line to the northwest corner of Lot
392 of said Tract 6561; thence easterly along the northerly line of
said last mentioned lot to the northeast corner thereof; thence
southerly along the easterly line of Lots 392, 393 and 394 to the
southeast corner of Lot 394 of said Tract 6561; thence southerly
in a direct line to the northeast corner of Lot 395 of said Tract
6561; thence southerly along the easterly line of Lots 395, 396,
397. 398t 399 and 400, to the southeast corner of Lot 400 Of said
Tract 6501, said corner lying in the northerly line of Live Oak
Avenue (formerly Azusa Road, 60 feet wide) as shown on map of said
last mentioned tract; thence easterly along the last mentioned
northerly line to the westerly line of Baldwin Avenue, 55 feet
wide, as shown on said last mentioned map, said westerly line be-
ing the westerly boundary Une of said City of Arcadia; thence
generally in a northerly and westerly direction along the various
courses and distances of the westerly and southerly boundaries of
said City of Arcadia to the point of beginning.

SECTlru~3, That said territory hereby i~ designated and
identif1ed for such election purposes and for use upon the ballots
at such election as "Annexation No. 17-A, Southwest Arcadia In-
habi ted 11 .
SECTION 4. At any time not later than 8:00 o'clock p.m.
on JanuarY 6,:1959, that being the hour set for hearing objections
to th~ election, any owner of property within the territory may
make a written protest against the election. The protest shall
state in general terms the name of the owner of the property af-
. fected and the location and area of the property. At the said time
set for hearing protests, the City Council shall hear and pass upon
all protests so n~de.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution and shall cause the same to be published once a
week for two weeks prior to the said hearing in the Arcadia Tribune
and Arcadia News, a newspaper of general circulation published and

circulated in the City of Arcadia.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held
on the
2nd
d.ay of December, 1958, by the affirmative vote of at
least three Councilmen, to wit:
