RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 353
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO IMPROVE A PORTION OF FIRST Av~u~ IN
SAID CITY OF ARCADIA AND DECLARING SAID WORK OR IMPROVEMENT TO BE
OF MORE THAN LOCAL OR ORDINARY PVBLIC BENEFIT AND DESCRIBING THE
DISTRICT TO BE BENEFITTED BY SAID \'IORK OR IMPROVEMENT AND TO BE
ASSESSED TO PAY TEE COST AND EXPENSE THEREOF AND DETERMINING THAT
SERIAL BONDS SHALL BE ISSUED TO REPRESENT THE COST AND EXPENSE AND
FIXING A TIME AND PLACE FOR HEARING OBJECTIONS TO SAID WORK OR
IMPROVEMENT OR TO THE EXTENT OF THE DISTRICT TO BE ASSESSED OR BOTH.
THE lIOARD ,OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1:
That the public interest and convenience req~ire
and it is the intention of the Board of Trustees of said City of
Arcadia to order the following work and improvement to be done in
said City of Arcadia. to-wit:
FIRST:
That a concrete curb be constructed in said
First Avenue from Southerly line of California Street to the Norther-
ly line of Duarte Road in said City of Arcadia. along a line parallel
to and ten (10) feet Westerly of the Easterly line of said First
Avenue inoluding returns at the South side of California Street and
First Avenue; also Diamond Street and First Avenue: Eldorado Street
and First Avenue; Fano street and First Avenue; Alice Street and
First Avenue; also including returns in the alleys between California
Street and Diamond Street; Diamond Street and Eldorado Street; Eldorado
street and Fano Street; Fano Street and Genoa Street; Alice Street
and Duarte Road.
That a conorete curb be construoted in said First
Avenue from the Southerly line of Huntington Drive to the Northerly
line of California Street in said City of Arcadia. along a line para-
llel to and ten (10) feet East of the Westerly line of said First
Avenue and that a concrete curb be constructed in said First Avenue
from the Southerly line of Diamond Street to the Northerly line of
Duarte Road in said City along a line parallel to and ten (10) feet
East of the Westerly line of said First Avenue. including returns at
the North side of California Street and First Avenue; at the South
side of Diamond Street and First Avenue; also Eldorado Street and
First Avenue; Fano Street and First Avenue; .Alice Street and First
.
Avenue; Lucile Street and First Avenue. also including returns in
the alleys between Huntington Drive and

now in plaoe in said, Flrst Avenue, sltuate between the Southerly
ourb line of Huntington Drlve and the Northerly line of Duarte
Road be graded and paved with an 011 macadam pavement four (4)
inohes thiok; exoept that portion ln front of thm e oertain lots
from which ten (10) feet has been deeded to the Clty for highway
purposes. then the pavement shall be twenty (20) feet Westerly

inches thiok.
SECTIO.N 2:
That the grade to which the work hereinabove
desoribed shall be done and improvement made as prOVided in this
ResolutIon is that shown on Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-136
on fUe in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia,
to which profile reference is hereby made far the desoription of
of sa id grade.

SECTION 3: All of the foregoing work shall be done in
accordance with said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-136 on file
in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia. Said
work shall also be in accordance with the follow1Dg spec ifications
on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City of Arcadia,
to-wit:

Standard Speoifications No. 0 for the construction of curbs,
sidewalks, gutters, 011 macadam pavement and concrete pavement.
Standard Specifioations No. 1 for the installation of street light-
ing standards, wires, oonduits and all' accessary fixtures thereto.
Said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-136 and the specifica-
tions hereinabove referred to were adopted by Resolution No. 352
-
of said Board of Trustees and the same are hereby made a part of this
Resolutio~ and are hereby referred to for a more particular descrip-
tion of said work.
All Streets, Boulevards and Avenues referred to in this
Resolutio~ are public streets and Avenues of said City of Arcadia.
SECTION 4:
That said contemplated work and improvement in
the opinion of the Board of Trustees of said City of Arcadia, is of
more' than local or ordinary publiC benefit and said Board of Trustees
hereby makes the expense of said wark and improvement chargeable
upon a district, which District said Board of Trustees hereby declares
to be the District benefitted by said wark and improvement and to be
assessed to p~ the costs and expenses thereof, which said District
is bounded and described as foll~s:
All that portion of said City of Arcadia included within the
following described exterior boundary, lines, to-wit:
Beginning at the Northwest corner of Lot 36, Block 72, of the
Part of Arcadia Tract, in the City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles,
State of California, as per Map recorded ~n Book 15, Pages 89-90,
Misoellaneous Records of said County; thence Easterly along the
Southerly line of Huntington Drive to the Northeast corner of Lot

The above description is general only. A Plat or Map of
said Distriot indioating by a boundary line the extent of the terri-
tory included in the proposed Assessment Distriot is on file in the
offioe of said City Engineer. Referenoe is hereby made to the said
Pla t or Map for a further, full and oomplete de script ion of the said
Assessment District. The said Plat or Map so on file shall govern
for all details as to the extent of such Assessment Distriot.
SECTION 5:
Said Board of Trustees also determines and
deolares that Serial Bonds shall ve issued to represent eaoh assess-
ment of Twenty-five ($25.00) Dollars or more remaining unpaid for

twenty (20) days after the date of the Warrant to represent the
expenses of said work and improvement. Said Serial Bonds shall
extend over a period ending nine (9) years from the second day of
January next succeeding the fifteenth day of the next November
following their date and an even annual proportion of the prinoipal
sum thereof shall be payable by ooupon, on the second day of January
every year after the fifteenth day of the next November following
their date, until the whole is paid. and the interest shall be pay-
able semi-annually, by ooupon, on the second days of January and
July, respeotively, of eaoh year after their date at the rate of

seven (7) per oent per annum on all sums unpaid until the whole of
said pr ino ipal and interest are paid.
SECTIQlIl' 6:
Not ioe is here,by given that on Wednesday, the
Fifteenth day of Deoember, 1926, at the hour of eight o'olock P.M.
of said day, in the Counoil Chember of the Board of T~tees of
said City of Arcadia, in the City Hall of said City, any and all
persons having a~ objeotions to said proposed work or improvement
or to the extent of the Distrlo t to be assessed, or both, may appear
before said Board of Trustees and show cause why said proposed
improvement should not be oarried out in aooordanoe with this
Reaolut ion.
SECTION 7:' All of the pr ooeedings for the aforesaid
improvement and for the issuanoe of said Bonds shall be had and
taken under and in aooordance with the provisions of an Aot of the
Legislature of the State of California, known and designated as
the "Improvement Aot of 1911", approved April 7, 1911, and of all

Aots supplementary thereto or amendatory thereof.
SECTION 8:
The Superintendent of Streets shall post or
oause to b~ posted conspiouously along the line of said contemplat-
ed work or improvement and also along all the open streets wi thin
the Distriot liable to be assessed and hereinabove described,
notioes of the passage of this Resolution in, the manner and form
required by law.
SECTION 9:
The City Clerk shall o'ertify tc the passage
of this Resolution and shall oause the seme to be published twice
in The Arcadia News, a weekly newspaper, pUQlished and ciroulated
in said City of Aroadia, and hereby designated for that purpose.

reputed owners ot property within the said Assessment Distriot
and the mailing ot suoh notioes is hereby dispensed with.
The torego1ng Resolution was adopted at a regular Meeting
