SECTION I, That the following wa~e scales for the basic
prades are hereby ascertained and determined to be the ~eneral pre-
vailin~ rate of per diem wages in the locality of the City o~
Arcadia and tne ~eneral prevailing ratz for legal holiday and over-
time work in said locality, That the rates hereinafter specified
shall be applicable ao of' the date of the adoption hereof, except
in such instances as rates or schedules are aereinafter specified
to be effective at D. date later than the dc.te of the adoption hereof'
and in such caEes the rates shall be effective upon the res~ective

On May I, 1958, a 7r;~ increase on all classifications in Croups 1 through 6 above will
be effective. One per cenl uf 11li~ 71/, inci'e&..Sc;, at the option of the Engineers, may be
utilized for vacations or wages; also included in this 77. increase is the cost of a
pension plan.
All classifications employed in a tunnel receive 20~ per hour premium pay additional
to their regular rate of pay.
Operators and Oilers on cranes with booms of eighty feet or more, including jib, and
pile driving rigs with hammer leads of eighty feet or more receive 154 per hour
premium additional to their regular rate of pay.
Operators on all hoisting equipment with three drums or more receive 104 per hour
premium pay additional to their regular rate of pay.
Combination Mixer and Compressor Operators on glmite work are classified as Con-
crete Mixer Operators.
Operators on Tractors with scrapers or dragtype shovels in tandem receive 15~ per
hour above their regular rate.
The necessity for the use of an employee as a Signalman shall be determined by the
Contractor. When used, he shall be an Engineer-Oiler who assists in giving or relay-
ing signals by mechanical means (also by means of hand signals on excavation work)
directly to the Operator of hoisting equipment only.
On a survey crew, the Party Chief shall receive premium pay of 10~ per hour above the
regular rate.
RIGGERS: Same wage scale as craft to which rigging is incidental.
WELDERS: Same wage scale as craft to which welding is incidental.
IRONWORKERS
HEALTH AND WELFARE: 10~ per hour, effective August 16, 1955.
FOREMAN DIFFERENTIAL: 25~ per hour more than the hourly rate of the highest
classification over which he has jurisdiction.
OVERTIME: Double time for all overtime.

Washoe, Pershing, Lander, Humboldt, Lyons, Storey, Clark, Lincoln and a portion of

The following wage scales are taken from the Master Labor Agreements negotiated
between the Southern California Contractors' Negotiating Committee (A.G.C., B.C.A.,
E.G.C.A. and H.B.I.) and the Basic Construction Crafts.
AREA COVERED: Unless otherwise indicated, these wage scales are applicable in the
following California Counties: Imperial, Inyo, Kern, Los Angeles, Mono, Orange. River-
side, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura.
SUBSISTENCE: The following six crafts receive a subsistence allowance for work in
certain designated areas. Please determine from the subsistence map (or the Agree-
ment itself for Ironworkers) whether or not an area is in a subsistence zone.

Men working from a bos'n's chair or swinging scaffold, or suspended from a rope or
cable, on heavy, highway or engineering work, excluding building constI'uction, altera-
tion or demolition of a building structure, receive 25~ per hour above the applicable
Journeyman or Apprentice rate.
When an employee uses survey instruments, he shall receive not less than the rate of
pay for his regular classification.

CEMENT MASONS
HEALTH AND WELFARE: 10~ per hour, effective July 19, 1954.
FOREMAN DIFFERENTIAL: When three or more Cement Masons are employed on a
job, one shall be employed as a foreman and shall receive not less than 334 per hour
more than the highest classification over which he has leadership.
OVERTIME: Time and one-half for the first three hours after the regularly constituted
straight-time shift; double time for all other overtime.
