HomeMy WebLinkAbout2989 RESOLUTION NO. 2989 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING FACTS CONSTITUTING AN URGEKCY AND AUTHORIZING TI1E LETTING OF A CONTRACT \lITHOUT ADVERTISING FOR BIDS. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY DETER!UNE, DECLARE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLO,-JS: SECTION 1. That the City of Arcadia has heretofore acquired certain property commonly known as the Wilderness Area. That said property is to be used for recreational activities com- mencing in June of 1958; that said property is heavily infested with poison oak which vlill be dangerous and detrimental to the health of people using said property; that elimination of such poison oak re- quires the immediate removal thereof from the property and the re- peated treatment of the soil to prevent the recurrence of such poison oak and to remlce or eliminate the effects of such poison oak. That the work of rer~oving the poison oak and thus treating the soil can not be completed in time to permit the use of the property as a recreational area as contemplated unless a contract for such work be let immediately without advertising for bids therefor. That the City Council therefore deems and determines that the work of remov- ing poison oak from the Wilderness Area and the treatment of the soil thereof is of urgent necessity for the preservation of health. SECTION 2. That for the foregoing reasons the City Coun- cil does hereby authorize the letting of a contract for the work of removing poison oak from the Wilderness Area and the treatment of the soil thereof without advertising for bids therefor. SECT::ON 3. That pursuant to the foregoing the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute, for and on behalf of the City of Arcadia, a contract with the California -l- 2989 -, Tree Service fox' the removal of poison oak from the Wilderness Area and the treatment of the soil thereof in the amount of Three thousand three hundred and thirty-three dollars ($3,333.00) in accordance with the specifications therefor heretofore prepared by Community Facili- ties Planners and hereby approved. SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
