RESOLUTION NO. 2832
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
DEcLA;mm ITS INTENTION TO FOR~I A
LIGHTING 11AINTENANCE DISTRICT, WHICH
DISTRICT IS TO PAY THE COST AND EXPENSES
FOR THE fl-IAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF A
STREET LIGHTING SYSTEM ON A PORTION OF
FIRST AVENUE IN SAID CITY, AND FIXING
A TIr~ AND PLACE FOR HEARING OBJECTIONS
TO THE FOffi.IATION OF SAID DISTRICT OR
TO THE EXTENT THEREOF.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFOili~IA, DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLL0I-1S:
SECTION 1. That the public interest and convenience re-
quire and it is the intention of the City Council of' the City of
Arcadia to form a li~hting maintenance district to be known as
Ll~hting Maintenance District No, 9, for the purpose of assessing
saiu district to pay the costs and expenses of maintaining and oper-
ating a street lighting system consisting of forty (40) 6000 lumen
lamps on a portion of First Avenue.
SECTION 2. The items of expense of maintenance and opera-
tion of the said lighting system to be furnished and to be assessed
aGainst the la~ds within the district (exclusive of improvements)
are electric p';Jwer, repairs, replacements, maintenance, labor, materi-
als, engineeri~g, printing and advertisinG. The estimated amount of
electric power necessary for said system for each year is 53,170
kilowatt hours and the estimated cost of said electric power for the
first year of maintenance and operation is the sum of one thousand
eiGht hundred seventy-tvlO dollars (~1,[q2.00).
SECTION 3. That the said contemplated maintenance and
operation of said lighting system in the opinion of the City Council
of the City of Arcadia is of more than local or ordinary public
benefit and said City Council hereby makes the expense of said
maintenance and operation chargeable upon a district, which

district said City Council hereby declares to be the district bene-
fited by said maintenance and operation and to be assessed to pay the
cost and expense thereof; which said district silall, in general, in-
clude all those lots fronting on said portions of said streets.
A plat or map of said District, indicating by a boundary
line the extent of the lands included in the proposed district, and
indicating by symbol showing the type of li~hting, was approved and
adopted by the City Council of said City of Arcadia, and is on file
in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Arcadia. Reference
is hereby made to said plat or map for further, full and complete
description of said Lighting Maintenance District No.9, and said
map so on file shall govern for all details as to the extent of such
district.
SECTION 4. That said maintenance and operation shall be
furnished for said system for a period from the date of the forma-
tion of said district to and including January 31, 1962.
SECTION 5. Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, the
15th day of January, 1957, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock p.m. of said
day, in the Ccuncil Chambers of said City Council of said City of
Arcadia, in the City Hall of said City, any and all persons owning
land or having any interest in lands within the district liable to
be assessed for the expenses of said maintenance and operation or any
portion thereof, may be heard and any of said persons may present any
objections that they may have by protest.
SECTION 6. All the proceedings for the aforesaid mainte-
nance and operation of said system shall be had and taken under and
in accordance with the provisions of an act of the Legislature of the
State of california, known and designated as the Municipal Lighting
Maint~nance District Act of 1927, being Division 14, Part 3 of the
Streets and Highways Code of the State of California.

SECTION 7. The Superintendent of Streets shall post or
cause to be posted, copies of this Resolution headed "Notice of for-
mation of lighting maintenance district" along all open streets
within said district liable to be assessed, in the manner and form
required by law.
SECTION 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution and shall cause the same to be published twice,
to wit: on December 13, 1955 and on December 20, 1956, in the
Arcadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of general circulation
published and circulated in the City of Arcadia and hereby designated
for that purpose.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular meetin8 of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
held on the 4th
day of December

vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit:
