HomeMy WebLinkAbout2840 RESOLUTION NO. 2840 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, rECLARING THE RESULTS OF A SPECIAL !,;uNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON THE 6TH DAY OF NOVE~ffiER, 1956, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUB!IJITTING TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID CITY A STREET OPENING AND UNDERPASS BOND PROPOSITION. vlliEREAS, at a special municipal election held in the City of Arcadia on the 6th day of November, 1955, which said election was according to law consolidated with the state-wide general election held in said Cit:r on said date, there was submitted to the qualified electors of said City a certain street opening and underpass bond proposition as hereinafter more specifically set forth; and, ~~REAS, the returns of said special municipal election were duly and regularly canvassed; Nml, T}lEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOtlS: SECTION 1. That said City Council finds and declares the results of the votes cast by the qualified electors votin~ at said special municipal election of said City concerning said street opening and unde~pass bond proposition to be as follows: That th,~ total number of votes cast, including absentee ballots, for and against said proposition was That the total number of votes cast, including absentee ballots, in favor of said proposition was 18,002 7,376 That the total number of votes cast, including absentee ballots, against said proposition was 10,626 SECTION 2. That the street opening and underpass bond proposition, for which said special municipal election was called and held and which was submitted to and voted upon by the voters of said City as aforesaid was as follows: -1- 2840 '( CITY OF ARCADIA STREET OPENING AND UNDEaPASS BOND PROPOSITION: Shall the City of Arcadia incur a bonded indebtedness in the princi- pal amount of $675,000 for the purpose of the acquisi- : YES tion and construction by said city of a certain muni- cipal improvement, to wit: (a) the opening and improve- ~ent of a public street from the present northerly terminus of Baldl'lin Avenue at Colorado Street northerly to Foothill Boulevard, (b) an underpass to carry said Baldwin Avenue as extended by said public street under Colorado Street, (c) an underpass to carry said public street under the Santa Fe Railroed right of vlay, and (d) raJllps for NO t~e interchange of traffic between Colorado Street and said Baldwin Avenue, including t~e acquisition of all land, rights of way and other p:~operty necessary for any 0: the foreGoing? ; SECT:ON 3. That the City Council of the City of Arcadia hereby finds, determines and declares that the aforesaid street opening and underpass bond proposition failed to receive a majority of all votes cast thereon. SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
