A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO FORi.! A
LIGHTING MAINTENANCE DISTRICT, WHICH
DISTRICT IS TO PAY THE COST AND
EXPENSES FOR THE MAINTENANCE AND
OPERATION OF A STREET LIGHTING SYSTEM
ON PORTIONS OF BEVERLY DRIVE, ROSE~~RIE
DRIVE, BURNELL OAKS LANE, THIRD AVENUE,
SIXTH AVENUE, FLORENCE AVENUE, FOOTHILL
BOULEVARD, ALSTER AVENUE, SHARON ROAD,
WISTARIA AVENUE, ENCINO AVENUE, LAS
FLORES AVENUE, OAK GLEN AVENUE, HILSON
AVENUE, DOSHIER AVENUE, SYCA1.l0RE AVENUE,
ALTA OAKS DRIVE, HIGHLAND OAKS AVENUE,
DANHlERE AVENUE, GRANDVIEl'f AVENUE IN

FOR HEARING OBJECTIONS TO THE FOR~~TION
OF SAID DISTRICT OR TO THE EXTENT
THEREOF.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFOfu~IA, DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOHS:
SECTION 1. That the public interest and convenience re-
qUire and it is the intention of the City Council of the City of
Arcadia to form a lighting maintenance district to be known as
Lighting Maintenance District No. 11, for the purpose of assessing
said district to pay a portion of the cost and expenses of maintain-
ing and operat:ng a street lighting system consisting of thirty-
seven (37) 2500 lumen lamps on portions of Beverly Drive, Rosemarie
Drive, Burnell Oaks Lane, Third Avenue, Sixth Avenue, Florence Ave-
nue, Foothill Boulevard, Alster Avenue, Sharon Road, Wistaria Avenue,
Encino Avenue, Las Flores Avenue, Oak Glen Avenue, Wilson Avenue,
Doshier Avenue, Sycamore Avenue, Alta Oaks Drive, Highland Oaks Ave-
nue, Danimere Avenue and Grandview Avenue.
SECTION 2. The items of expense of maintenance and opera-
tion of the said lighting system to be furnished and to be assessed
in part against the lands within the district (exclusive of im-
provements), are electric power, repairs, replacements, maintenance,
labor, materials, engineering, printing and advertising. The esti-
mated amount of electric power necessary for said system for each

year is twent~r-two thousand nine hundred and one (22,901) kilowatt
hours and the estimated cost of said electric power for the first
year of maint~mance and operation is the sum of One thousand four
hundred sixty-.five dollars and forty-two cents ($1,465.42).
SECTION 3. That the said contemplated maintenance and
operation of ~aid lighting system in the opinion of the City Council
of the City of Arcadia is of more than local or ordinary public bene-
fit and said City Council hereby makes the expense of said maintenance
and operation, exclusive of the amount to be paid by said City as
stated in Section 5 hereof, chargeable upon a district, which dis-
trict said City Council hereby declares to be the district benefited
by said maintenance and operation and to be assessed to pay the cost
and expense thereof; which said district shall, in ~eneral, include
all of those lots fronting on said portions of said streets.
A plat or map of said District, indicating by a boundary
line the extent of the lands included in the proposed district, and
indicating by symbol showing the type of lighting, was approved and
adopted by the City Council of said City of Arcadia, and is on file
in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Arcadia. Reference
is hereby made to said plat or map for further, full and complete
description of said Lighting ;.Iaintenance District No. 11, and said
map so on file shall govern for all details as to the extent of
such district.
SECTION 4. That said maintenance and operation shall be
furnished for said system for a period from the date of the forma-
tion of said district to and including January 31, 1952.
SECTION 5. The City Council of the City of Arcadia hereby
orders that fifty percent (5~;) of the total maintenance and opera-
tion cost and expenses of said system be paid out of the treasury
of said City from the general fund of said City.

SECTION 6. Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, the
22l'rl day ofJ.a:Q'uary, 1957, at the hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m. of said
day, in the Council Chambers of said City Council of said City of
Arcadia, in the City Hall of said City, ~ any and all persons own-
in3 land or having any interest in lands within the district liable
to be assessed for the expenses of said maintenance and operation or
any portion thereof, may be heard and any of said persons may present
any objections that they may have by protest.
SECT:ON 7. All the proceedings for the aforesaid mainte-
nance and operation of said system shall be had and taken under and
in accordance \'Iith the provisions of an act of the Legislature of
the State of C&lifornia, known and designated as the Municipal L~ght-
ing ~~intenance District Act of 1927, being Division 14, Part 3 of
the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California.
SECTION 8. The Superintendent of Streets shall post or
cause to be posted, copies of this Resolution headed "Notice of for-
mation of lighting maintenance district" along all open streets
within said district liable to be assessed, in the manner and form
required by law.
SECTION 9. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution and shall cause the same to be published twice,
to wit: on December 27, 1956 and January 3, 1957, in the Arcadia
Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of general circulation pub-
lished and circulated in the City of Arcadia and hereby designated
for that purpose.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia)
held on the 18th day of December, 1955, by the affirmative vote of
at least three Councilmen, to wit:
