RESOLUTION NO. 2873
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA., CALIFORNIA,
AMENDING RULE IX, SECTION 3, OF THE
PERSONNEL RULES OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA.
WHEREAS, certain rules and regulations supplementing
the personnel system of the City of Arcadia were adopted on
May 1, 1956, by Resolution No. 2769 entitled "A RESOLUTION OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING RULES
AND REGULATIONS SUPPLE1.1ENTING THE ARCADIA CITY CHARTER AND CITY
ORDINANCES CREATING THE PERSONNEL SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
AND RESCINDING ALL PRIOR RULES AND REGULATIONS"j and,
WHEREAS, the City Council and the Personnel Board of the
City of Arcadia have considered the problem of whether time off
during a granted leave of absence without pay should constitute
part of the employee's term of service or whether it should con-
stitute interr~ption of such service; and,
WHEREAS, this Council believes the best interests of the
City of Arcadia and of its employees will be served by amending
the Personnel Rules and Regulations to provide that any action
granting a lea.ve of absence of more than thirty days, unless
otherwise specifically stated therein, shall constitute an inter-
ruption of service;
NOW. THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Personnel Rules and RegUlations sup-
plementing the personnel system of the City of Arcadia as adopted
by Resolution No. 2769 aforesaid be and the same are hereby amended
by adding to Rule IX- LEAVES, Section 3 - Vacation Leave, Sub-
section (c) the following paragraph:
The granting of a leave of absence of thirty days or
less, with or without pay, shall not constitute an interruption in
service within the meaning of this subsection. The granting of a

leave of absence with or without pay of more than thirty days shall
constitute an interruption of service unless, in the action grant-
ing such leave of absence, it is provided that such leave of ab-
sence shall not constitute an interruption of service.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held
on the 19th
day of March
, 1957, by the affirmative vote
of at least t~ree Councilmen, to wit:
