HomeMy WebLinkAbout2627 RESOLUTION NO. 2627 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, PROCLAIMING "40 PLUS WEEK" WHEREAS, by 1975, according to the United States Census Bureau, the number of persons forty and over will constitute well over one-half the population over twenty years of age; and, WHEREAS, unless steps are taken to give those forty and over job opportunities, many of our best adult workers will be con- demned to a life of economic uselessness; and, WHEREAS, for the past sixteen years the 40 Plus Associa- tion, a non-profit organization, has aided executive type men in finding suitable employment, providing a large pool of experienced manpower; and, WHEREAS, the 40 Plus Association of Southern California has been tremendously effective in placing men over forty in re- sponsible positions and has been doing vital and inspirational work in this field; and, WHEREAS, the 40 Plus Association has designated the week of June 13 - 19, 1955, in advance of Father's Day, as "40 Plus Week" to be proclaimed as such by the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County and the mayors and legislative bodies of all of the cities within the County; and, WHEREAS, the 40 Plus Association is worthy of county-wide and community-wide support for its program of returning executives of forty years and over to positions of responsibility and trust by convincing employers that when they employ 40 Plus talent, they secure judgment born of experience; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Arcadia does hereby resolve as follows: SECTION 1. That the week of June 13 - 19, 1955, be pro- claimed as "40 Plus Week"; that the City Council of the City of - 1 - ~~. ,,,0 2627 Arcadia endorses the work of the 40 Plus Association of Southern California, 2~ endeavoring to acquaint the residents generally of the City of Arcadia of the aims, purposes and works of the 40 Plus Association of Southern California, and urges all civic, fraternal and service organization of the City of Arcadia to do likewise. SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held on the 17th day of May, 1955, by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Camphouse, Dennis, Dow, Hulse and Phillips NOES: None ABSENT: None ~f~- Depu y Ci y Clerk of the City of Arcadia SIGNED AND APPROVED THIS 17th day of May, 1955.
