A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, READOPTING
THE OFFICIAL 5-STEP PLAN SALARY SCHEDULE
FOR THE VARIOUS POSITIONS IN THE CITY
EMPLOY, ESTABLISHING AND REAFFIRMING THE
VARIOUS POSITIONS IN THE CITY EMPLOY,
ASSIGNING NEW SCHEDULE NUMBERS TO SUCH
POSITIONS, AND ALTERING AND ADJUSTING
THE MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM COMPENSATION FOR
ALL POSITIONS IN THE CITY EMPLOY, AND
AMENDING ALL PRIOR RESOLUTIONS TO
CONFORM HEREWITH.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
HEREBY DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Personnel Board and the City Manager,
in cooperation with the administrative staff of the City, have
reviewed the personnel system of the City of Arcadia and the com-
pensation of all officers and employees of the City of Arcadia and
have made their recommendations thereon. That the City Council
has reviewed the aforesaid recommendations and the subject matter
generally.
SECTION 2. That the following 5-step plan salary
schedule heretofore adopted by the City of Arcadia is hereby re-
adopted and reaffirmed:

SECTION 3. That pursuant to the recommendations and
determinations thus made, as set forth in Section 1 hereinbefore,
and in accordance with the 1955-56 fiscal budget adopted concur-
rently herewith, the following positions within the unclassified
and classified service of the City of Arcadia are established, re-
established, reaffirmed and approved, respectively as the occasion
may be, effective as of July 1, 1955, and the following rates or
amounts respectively of compensation made applicable to axe reaf-
firmed with respect to the various offices and positions in the
city employ effective as of July 1, 1955, to-wit:

SECTION 4. That effective July 1, 1955, Resolution No.
2173 entitled "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, APPOINTING AND EMPLOYING WILLIAM RICHARDS AS CITY MANAGER,
DEFINING HIS DUTIES AND ESTABLISHING HIS RATE OF COMPENSATION" be
and it is amended by amending Section 2 thereof to.read as follows:
SECTION 2. That the compensation of William Richards as
City Manager be and the same is hereby fixed at the rate of ONE
THOUSAND AND N01100 DOLLARS ($1000.00) per month, said compensation
to be paid in equal semi-monthly installments of FIVE HUNDRED AND
N01100 DOLLARS ($500.00) each on the 15th and last day of each and
every month for the periods from the 1st to the 15th days and from
the 16th to the last day of each month respectively. Said compen-
sation as hereby established shall be in full compensation of all
duties to be performed by said City Manager under the terms of his
said employment.
SECTION 5. That effective July 1, 1955, Section 2 of
Resolution No. 2327, adopted January 20, 1953, be and the same is
hereby amended to read as follows:
SECTION 2. That effective July 1, 1955, said appointee
shall receive as compensation for his services the sum of SEVEN
HUNDRED FIFTY and N01100 DOLLARS ($750.00) per month, payable
monthly. That said appointee shall be paid additional compensation
for services rendered by him for the preparation of any Municipal
Bond proceedings, for services rendered in actions in court, for
appearances in hearings before administrative boards and commissions
other than City boards and commissions, and for proceedings taken
under any statutory Improvement Act, and for all other matters he
may be instructed to do and for which extra compensation is from
time to time specifically authorized. Any such additional compen-
sation is to be in an amount commensurate with the value of the
services rendered and in all cases shall be subject to the approval
of the City Council.

SECTION 6. That all prior resolutions inconsistent in
whole or in part with any of the foregoing sections are hereby
amended to conform with the provisions hereof.
SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia
held on the 21st day of June, 1955, by the affirmative vote of at
least three Councilmen, to-wit:
AYES: Councilmen Camphouse, Dow, Hulse and Phillips
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Dennis
