RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ~CADIA, CALIFORNIA, GRAN'lING A ZONE V~IANCE AFFECTIlIG CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY IN SAID CITY TO PERMIT THE CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION THEREON OF HEADQUARTERS OF THE ~CADIA LOCAL COUNCIL OF GIRL SCOUTS THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLlElr . SECTION 1. That there was filed with the City Planning Ccmm1ssion of the City of Aroadia on July 26, 1964, a petition of the Aroadia Council of Girl Soouts requesting a zone varianoe to permit the North 80 feet of the South 169.4 feet of the ITest 227.~ feet of Block 49, Santa Anita Traot, as shown on map reoorded in Book 34, pages 41 and 42 of Miscellaneous Reoords of Los Angeles County, being the property situated at 590 South Third Avenue in said City, to be used as headquarters for the Aroadia Counoil of Girl Soouts. That after due notice, as required by Ordinanoe No. 760 of the City of Aroadia, . a publio hearing on the matter was hsld by and before the City Planning Cam- mission on August 10, 1964, at whioh time all interested persons were given full opportunity to be heard and to present evidence. That said City Planning Commission did thereupon adopt its oertain Resolution No. 163 entitled "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ~CADIA, CALIFORNIA, RECOUMENDING THE GRANTOO OF A VARIANCE AFFECTING CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY IN SAID CITY TO PERMIT THE CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION THEREON OF HEADQUARTERS OF THE ARCADIA LOCAL COUNCIL OF GIRL SCOUTS", wherein and whereby . it made oertain findings and reoommendations oonoerning the requested variance. SECTION 2. That there were no protests, oral or written, to the granting of the requested varianoe. That there are exoeptional oiroumstanoes applioable to the intended use of the property that do not apply generally to the olass of uses in the same vioinity and zone. That applicant is a reoog- nized youth organization of unquestioned oharacter and inestimable worth to the oommunity. That the nature of applioant's work is necessarily with the youth . of the cODDnunity, involving children of school age, and requires that its faoilities - 1 - 263S . be looated in olose proxmity to the sohools of the cOIlIll1unity and in residen- tial rather than commercial or quasi-commeroial areas. . SECTION 3. That the varianoe requested is necessary for the preser- vation and enjoyment of the substantial property righis of the applioant pos- sessed by other property in the same vicinity and z~ne. That applicant is dedioated and devoted to the servioe of the youth of the community and has no other lawful use for its property other than that for whioh the variance is herein requested. . SECTION 4. That the granting of the varianoe requested will not be materially detrmental to the publio welfare or injurious to the property or mprovem.ents in suoh vioinity and zone in whioh the subjeot property is located. On the oontrary, the granting of the variance will be benefioial to the publio welfare, and the improv8Ill8nt of the property for applioant's aotivi- ties and the conduot of' its activities thereon will not be injurious to the property or improvements in the vioinity and zone. SECTION 6. That the granting of the varianoe requested will not ad- versely affeot the oomprehensive general plan. That the nature of the appli- oant's work makes the location of its faoilities in a residential zone adjaoent to sohool faoilities essential, and suoh looation is in furtherance of rather than contrary to the oomprehensive general plan. . SECTION 6. That for the foregoing reasons, the City Counoil of the City of Aroadia does hereby grant a varianoe under the provisione of Ordinanoe No. 760 insofar as the same is neoessary to permit the property hereinabove described to be used for the purposes and in the manner stated in applioant's petition on file herein. SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall oertify to the adoption of this Resolution.
