RESOLUTION NO. 2544
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, GRANTING THE EXTENSION
OF AN EXISTING VARIANCE AFFECTING CERTAIN REAL
PROPERTY IN SAID CITY
.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIlE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY
FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FO:LLQlo!s:
SECTIOlll. That there was filed with the City Planning Commission
the petition of Harold J. and Grace C. Packer, as owners, for the extension
of an existing variance to permit the addition of a wing to the existing
structure, located upon the following described property:

Part of Lot 1, Tract No. 949, as shown on map recorded
in Book 11, page 13, of Maps, records of Los Angeles
County, described as follows:
Commencing on the south line of Colorado Boulevard 502.83
feet west from the northwest corner of Lot 30, Tract No.
14145; thence west on the south line of Colorado Boulevard
290.04 feet; thence south 2.9029145't east 385.26 feet; thence
north 11041'40"' east 235.41 feet to the point of beginning;
being property located at 250 \vest Colorado Boulevard at its intersection
with Colorado Place; and that after notice as required by Ordinance No. 760
of said city, a public hearing ~laS du4r held by and before said City Planning
Commission on the 2~h day of August, 1954, at which time all interested
persons 'fere given full opportunity to be heard and to present evidence.
That thereupon the City Planning Commission did adopt its certain Resolution

No. 165 entitled "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, REXXlI'lI'OOIDING THE EX'I'mSION OF AN EXIsrING VARIANCE
J\FFECTING CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY IN SAID CITY", wherein and whereby it made
certain findings and recommendations concerning the requested variance.
SECTION 2. That there were no protests to the granting of the
requested variance.
SECTION 3. That the requested variance is for the purpose of in-
creasing the inside use of the premises for the business already lawful4r
conducted thereon and lessening the outside use of said premises for the same
purpose. That the circumstances and conditions heretofore existing at the

time of the granting of the variance under Ordinance No. 746 of the City
of Arcadia, affecting said premises remain substantially the same today.
That the granting of the requested variance is reasonably necessary for the
preservation and enjoyment of the substantial property rights of the appli-
cant in that the business lawfully conducted thereon can better be served
indoors than outdoors. That the granting of the requested variance will not
be materially detr:lJnental to the public welfare or injurious to the property

or improvements in the vicinity and zone but rather will be beneficial
thereto in that the variance will permit the further improvement of the prop-
erty without creating any new uses thereof. That the granting of the variance
will not affect the comprehensive general plan in that it will not authorize
any new use of the subject premises.
SECTION 4. That for the foregoing reasons, the City Council of the
City of Arcadia does hereby grant the variance affecting the above described
property to permit the addition of a wing to the existing structure thereon,

as set forth in applicant's petition, upon the condition that all structures
located on said premises be made to conform with all regulations applicable
to subject property.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution.
I HERl!BY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted at a
regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held on the 5th
day of October, 1954, by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen,
to-wit:
