SECTION 1. That the public interest and convenience re- quire and it is the intention of the City Council of the City of Arcadia to form a lighting maintenance district to be known as Lighting Maintenance District No.8, for the purpose of assessing '" said district to pay a portion of the cost and expenses of main- taining and operating a street lighting system consisting of eighty-one (81) 2500 lumen lamps on nortions of Third Avenue, Long- den Avenue, Coyle Avenue, Second Avenue, Alster Avenue, Lemon Ave- nue, Pamela Road, Altern Street, Leda Lane, La Sierra Drive, Fifth . Avenue, ,iinnie Way, Robbins Drive, Magna Vista Avenue, Christina Street, Greenfield Avenue, Andrea Lane, Stonehouse Road, Chantry Drive, Anita Crest Drive, Camino Real Avenue, Colorado Street, Santa lliaria Road, Colorado Boulevard, Merry Oak Lane, Foothill Boulevard, Norman Avenue, Tulip Lane, Doolittle Avenue, Louise Ave- nue, Grace Avenue, ~atson Drive, Lee Avenue, Loganrita Avenue, Fourth Avenue and First Avenue. . SECTION 2. The items of expense of maintenance and - 1 - 2582 . . operation of the said lighting system to be furnished and to be assessed in part against the lands within the district (exclusive of improvements), are electric power, repairs, replacements, main- tenance, labor, materials, engineering, printing and advertising. The estimated amount of electric p~'er necessary for said system for each year is fifty-eight thousand four hundred eighty-nine (58,489) kilowatt hours and the estimated cost of said electric power for the first year of maintenance and operation is the sum of one thousand fifty-one and nO/100 dollars (Sl,05l.00). . SECTION 3. That the said contemplated maintenance and operation of said lif.hting system in the opinion of the City Council of the City of Afcadia is of more than local or ordinary public benefit and said City Council hereby makes the expense of said main- tenance .and operation, exclusive of the amount to be paid by said City as stated in Section 5 hereof, chargeable upon a district, which district said City Council hereby declares to be the district benefited by said maintenance and operation and to be assessed to pay the cost and expense thereof; which said district shall, in general, include all those lots fronting on said portions of said streets. . A plat or map of said District, indicating by a boundary line the extent of the lands included in the proposed district, and indicating by symbol showing the type of lighting was approved and adopted by the City Council of said City of Arcadia, and is on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Arcadia. Reference is hereby made to said plat or map for further, full and complete description of said Lighting ~aintenance District No.8, and said map so on file shall govern for all details as to the extent of such district. . SECTION 4. That said maintenance and operation shall be furnished for said system for a period from the date of the forma- tion of said district to and including June 30, 1958. - 2 - 2582 . SEcrrON 5. The City Council of the City of Arcadia hereby orders that fifty per cent (50%) of the total maintenance and opera- tion cost and expenses of said ~ystem be paid out of the treasury of said City from the general fund of said City. SECfION 6. Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, the 1st day of February, 1955, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock p.m. of said day, in the Council Chambers of said City Council of said City of . Arcadia, in the City Hall of said City, any and all persons owning land or having any interest in lands within the district liable to be assessed for the expenses of said maintenance and operation or any portion thereof, I:!ay be heard and any of said persons may present any objections that they may have by protest. . SEcrION 7. All the proceedings for the aforesaid mainte- nance and operation of said system shall be had and taken under and in accordance with the provisions of an act of the Legislature of the State of California, known and designated as the municipal Lighting Maintenance District' Act of 1927, being Division 14, Part 3 of the streets and Highways Code of the State of California. SECTION 8. The Superintendent of Streets shall post or cause to be posted, copies of this Resolution headed "Notice of formation of lighting maintenance district" alon3 all open streets within said district liable to be assessed, in the manner and form required by law. . SECTION 9. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and shall cause the same to be published twice in the Arcadia Bulletin, a newspaper of general circulation published and circulated in the City of Arcadia and hereby designated for that purpo se. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, . - 3 - 2582 . held on the 4th day of January, 1955, by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Campho~se, Dennis, Dow, Hulse and Phillips } '.
