A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING THE RULES AND RE- GULATIONS SUPPLE1-lENTING ORDINANCE NO. 43l OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA AS AMENDED, RELATIVE TO VACATIONS, DESCRIBING SICK LEAVE AND VACATION BENEFITS FOR UNCLASSIFIED El.1PLOYEES OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA AND RESCINDING RESOLUTIONS NOS.2343 and 2355. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That Section 3 of Rule 6 of the Rule~ and Re- gulaUons supplementing Ordinance No.431 of the City of Arcadia, as amended, pursuant to the recommendation of the Personnel Board of . the City of Arcadia heretofore made, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: "SECTION 3 (l) Every regular member of the City Police De- except non-safety employees partment and of the City Fire Department/Who shall have been con- tinuously employed by the City of Arcadia for ~1elve (12) complete consecutive calendar months shall be entitled te a leave of absence with pay of Fifteen (15) regular working days for each such ~~elve (12) month period of employment. (2) Every other employee in the classified service of the City of Arcadia who shall have been continuously employed by the City of Arcadia for TtIelve (l2) complete consecutive calendar months shall be entitled to a vacation w1th pay of two calendar weeks for each such twelve (12) month period. Said two weeks' vacation shall coincide with calendar week commencing wit h Monday and ending with Sunday. No employee shall be granted additional leave of absence with pay for any holiday appearing w1thin such . . vacation period. (3) 1\11 leave of absence with payor vacation to which any employee 1s ent1tled under this Section, shall be taken in one continuous period, unless an employee's department head, with the approval of the City Manager, allows a vacation to be taken at intervals. No vacation or leave of absence with pay shall be ac- cumulative beyond a period of TtIelve (12) calendar months after such vacation or leave of absence has accrued. '" . unless the City Counci~ in granting such leave of absence, makes other provision concerning the accrual of VaCATION or leave of absence. All vacations shall be taken at the time prescribed by the appointing officer. Absence while on accrued vacation or accrued leave of absence with pay, or accrued sick leave shall be considered as employment for the purpose of determining accrued vacation rights. Leave of absence without pay shall likewise be so considered only if the City Council so determines in the granting of such leave of absence. · SECTION 3-B (l). Every regular member of the City Police except non-safety employees Department and of the City Fire Department/who shall have been con- tinuously employed by the City of Arcadia for more than Fifteen (15) complete calendar years shall be entitled to an additional annual leave of absence with pay of Seven (7) regular working days in addition to the leave of absence hereinbefore prescribed for other regular members of the Police and Fire Departments of the City. (2) Every other employee in the classified service of the . City of Arcadia who shall have been continuously employed by the City of Arcadia for more than Fifteen (15) complete calendar years, shall b~ entitled to an additional calendar week's vacation in addition to . the vacation hereinbefore prescribed for other City employees, to be taken at the same time and upon the same conditions as hereinbe- fore prescribed for such vacations. SECTION 3-C. Every person entitled to a vacation or leave of absence with pay by reason of any of the preceding sub-sections shall upon leavir~ the City employ for any reason whatsoever be en- . titled to vacation or leave of absence with pay as shall have accrued by reason of the completion of Twelve (12) complete consecutive months of employn~nt. Every City employee entitled to a vacation or leave of absence with pay by reason of any of the foregoing sub- sections who leaves the City employ for any reason other than dis- charge for cause, shall be entitled to additional vacation or leave of absence with pay accrued at the rate of one-twelfth (1/12) of the annual vacation or leave of absence with pay to which he is entitled under any preceding sub-section for each full calebdar . -2- ~~~ "."""".v,,. Upon completion of Six (6) consecutive complete calendar months of satisfactory service in the employ of the City of Arcadia, every ,erson regularly employed in the unclassif1ed service of said City shall be entitled to the same sick leave.benefits as have heretofore been provided or may hereafter be provided for persons in the classified service of the City of Arcadia. SECTION 3. Upon completion of Twelve (12) complete con- secutive cal~ndar months of satisfactory service in the employ of pther of Arcadia every/person regularly employed in the unclassifi- the City . ed service of the City of Arcadia shall be entitled, as u part of his compensation, to vacation or leave of absence with pay of the same duration and under the same terms and conditions as are now provid- ed or may hereafter be prOVided for permanent employees (other than Policemen or Firemen) in the classified service of the City of Arcadia. SECTION 4. Insofar as may be necessary, all prior Re- solutions of employment or of specified compensation for persons in the unclass1fied service of the City of Arcad1a, are hereby amended to conform herewith. SECTION 5. Resolution No.2343 adopted March 17, 1953 and Resolution No.2355 adopted March 31, 1953, are hereby rescinded. SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
