A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, ADJUSTIt-."G. SALARIES OF. DE-
PARTMENT HEADS AND APPOINTIVE OFFICERS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES HEREBY FIND, DE-
TERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOrTS: .
SECTION 1. On the recommendation of the Personnel Board of the
City of Arcad!a, the City Council finds that the blanket cost of
living !ncreasea heretofore provided for employees of the City of
Arcadia have n01; made adequate provision for the compensation of
department heads and certain appointive officials commensurate with
their duties and. responsibilities. That the salary adjustments here-
inafter provided are reasonable and necessary for the restoration of
the proper relationship of tlepartment heads and appointive officials
with other employees of the City of Arcadia.
SECTION 2. That effective October l, 1953, the monthly compen-
satlon of the Bunding Official is increased from $424.00 to $450.00;
that the monthly compensation of the Chief of Police is increased
from $565.00 to $620.00; that the monthly compensation of the Secretary
. to the Personnel Board is increased from $75.00 to $100.00; that the

monthly compensation of the City Controller is increased from $525.00
to $570.00; that the monthly compensation of the City Engineer is in-
creased from $660.00 to $700.00; that the monthly compensation of
the City Manager is increased from $825.00 to $875.00; that the month-
ly compensation of the Chief of the Fire Department is increased from
$460.00 to $500.00; that the monthly compensation of the Water Super-
intendent is increased from $585.00 to $625.00; that the monthly com-
pensation of the Recreation Director is increased from $465.00 to $500.00.
SECTION 3. Effective October l, 1953. Schedule 54 instead of
Schedule G. of the revised wage Guide heretofore adopted on Febr.u~~y 1,
1953, is hereby maaeapplicable to the position of City Treasurer and
the step withln position classlfication hereinbefore applicable to
the employee holding such position shall continue to apply under the
nct., schedule 54 hereby made applicable to said position.
SECTION 4. Effective October 1. 1953, the monthly compensation
of the City Attorney is hereby increased to $575.00, and Section 2
of Resolution No.2327 adopted January 20, 1953, is hereby amended to

"That effective October 1, 1953. said appointee shall re-
ceive as compensation for his services the sum of FIVE HUNDRED SEVE~-
FIVE ($575.00) DOLLARS per month, payable monthly. That said appointee
shall be paid additional compensation for services rendered by him
for the preparation of any Municipal Bond proceedings, for services
rendered in actions in court, for appearances in hearings before admin-
istrative boards and commiss10ns other than City Boards and commission.
and for proceedings taken under any statutory Improvement Act, and for
. all other matters he may be instructed to do and for which extra com-
pensation is from time to time specifical1y authorized. ID1Y such
additional compensation is to be 1n an amount commensurate with the
value of the services rendered and in all cases shall be subject to
the approval of the City Councll."
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted

Councilmen, to-wit:
