RESOLUTION GRANTING CONSENT AND JURISDICTION
TO THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES
IN THE MATTER OF COUNTY IMPROVEMENT NO. 1487
HODGES AVENUE AND OTHER RIGHTS OF WAY
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles
is about to oommenoe prooeedings under Division 7 of the Streets
and Highways Code, for the construction of sanitary sewers in Hodges
Avenue and other rights of way under County Improvement No. 1487:
and
WHEREAS, the proposed improvement includes work in the sanitary
sever right of vay in that portion of Lot 12, Western Two Thirds
Ranoho San Franoisquito, as shown on map reC.orded in Book 42, Pages
93 and 94 of Misoellaneous Reoords, extending generally southwesterly
from the northwesterly oorner of Lot 36, Traot No. l3780, as shown
on map reoorded in Book 275, Pages 9 to 11 inclusive of Maps, to the
southeasterly terminus of Hempstead Avenue, being property of and
in the City of Aroadia.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Counoil of the City
of Aroadia as fol,lows:
1. That the publio interest and neoessity require the oon~
struotion of san1tary sewers in Hodges Avenue and other rights of
way, all to the extent and in the same manner as shown in the plans,
speoifioations and map of the assessment district approved by said
Board of Supervisors on the 6th day of October , 1953,
and on file in the offioe of said Board, and as set forth in the
proposed Resolution of Intention of said Board for this improvement,
a oopy of whioh resolution, inoomplete as to datss and similar
information which oan only be inserted at the time of adoption, is
attaohed hereto and made a part hereof.

2. That this City Council hereby consents to the use for said
improvement of the sanitary sewer right of way in that portion of
Lot 12, Western Two Thirds Rancho San Francisquito, as described
in said proposed Resolution of Intention, included within.the boundary
of said assessment district and lying within the boundary of the City
of Arcadia.
3. That the consent of this City Council is hereby given to the
commencement of proceedings for said proposed improvement by the Board
. of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles, and to the exercise of
exclusive jurisdiction by said Board of Supervisors over all proceedings
.
necessary thereto for the purpose of consummating the same, all in
accordance with the provisions of Division 7 of the Streets and
Highways Code.
~. That the Clerk of this City Council is hereby directed to
certify and deliver two copies of this resolution to the Clerk of
said Board of Supervisors.

Second: The resurfacing of the trench in the streets and
rights of way wherein aforementioned sanitary sewers are constructed.

All of said work shall be performed in the ~eet~/and oetween
the limits, hereinbefore designated except where the plans indicate
that said work shall be omitted.
THAT SUCH IWRK OR IMPROVEMENT, IT IS ESTIMATED, WILL COST THE
SUM OF NINETY-NINE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS ($99,400.00).
SECTION 2.

That all the work and improvements aforesaid shall be done and
performed as shown on and in accordance with and to the grades shown
on the plans, profiles and specifications therefor, filed in the off~e
of the Board of Supervisors in the Hall of Records in the City of Los
Angeles on the

Reference is hereby made to said plans, profiles and speci.fications
for a full and detailed description of said proposed work or improve-
ment, and said plans, profiles and specifications shall govern for all
details of the proposed work or improvement and for the description of
the grade to which this work is to be done, and are made a part hereof.
SECTION 3.

That the said contemplated work or improvement, in the opinion
of the Board, is of more than local or ordinary public benefit, and
the Board hereby makes th(; expense of the work or improvement charge-
able upon a district, which district the Board hereby declares to be
the district benefited by the work or improvement and to be assessed
to pay the cost and expense thereof.
A map of the district, indicating by a boundary line the
extent of the territory included in the proposed district approved by
the Board on the

for a full and complete description of the assessment district and
the map shall govern for all details as to the extent of the assess-
ment district.

SECTION 4.
That serial bonds shall be issued in accordance with Division 7,
streets and Highways Code, to represent each assessment of twenty-five
dollars ($25.00) or more relllaining unpaid for thirty (30) days after
the date of the recording of the warrant. The serial bonds shall
extend over a period ending nine (9) years from the second day ef
January next succeeding the next October fifteenth following their
date, and an even annual proportion of the principal sum thereof shall
be payable, by coupon, on the second day of January every year after
the next October fifteenth following their date, until the whole is.
paid, and the interest shall be payable semiannually, by coupon, on
the second days of January and July, respectively, of each year follow-
l,ng the date of the bonds, at the rate of six (6) per cent per annum
on all sums unpaid, until the whole of the principal and interest is
paid.
SECTION 5.
That the proceedings for the afore13aio.- work or-improvement
shall be under and in accordance with Division 7, streets and Highways
Code, and County Ordinance No. 4348 (New Series) providing that all
payments upon the assessment within 30 days from the recordation
thereof shall be made to the County Surveyor.
SECTION 6.
The Streets he~einbefore referred to are public streets in the
County of Los Angeles, and are located in unincorporated territory in
the vicinity of Arclldia.
SECTION 7.
That it is the opinion of the Board that the public interest will
not be served by allowing the property owners to take the contract for
the work to be done under these proceedings.

That

at the hour of ten o'clock A.M. of said day, is the day and hour and the
Chambers of the Board in the Hall ef Records, in the City of Les Angeles,
is the place fixed by the Board when and where any and all persons
having any objections to the proposed work or improvement or to the
extent of the district to be assessed, or to the pro~osed grades to which
the work is to be done, or to any or all of the foregoing, may appear
before the Board and show cause why the proposed work or improvement
should not be carried out in accordance with this Reselution.
SECTION 9.
That the County Surveyor shall cause to be conspicueusly posted
along the line of the contemplated work or improvement and along all
open streets within the district liable to be assessed, notices of the
adoption of this Resolution in the manner and in the form required by
law.
· SECTION 10.
The Clerk of the Board shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution and shall cause the same to be published for two days in the

in the County of Los Angeles, which is hereby designated for that
purpose by the Board.
The Board does hereby direct the Clerk thereof to mail notices
of the adoption of this Resolution of Intention to all persons owning
real property proposed to be assessed for the work herein described
whose names and addresses appear on the last equalized assessment roll

said notices to be as required by law.
