A RESOLUTION OF' THE CITY COUNCIL OF' THE CITY
OF' ARCA:OIA, CALIFORNIA, GIVING NOTICE OF' THE
PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY ADJACENT
TO AND CONTIGUOUS WITH THE PRESENT CITY LIMITS OF'
THE CITY OF' ARCADIA, THE SAME BEING SITUATED NEAR THE
SOUTHWESTERLY PORTION OF THE CITY OF' ARCADIA, DESIGN-
ATED AS WEST ARCADIA ANNEXATION NO.9
WHEREAS, a petition in writing has been received by the City
Council of the City of Arcadia containing a description of unin-
habited territory lying contiguous to the territory contained
within the corporate boundaries of the City of Arcadia, signed
by the owners of not less than one-fourth of the assessed value
of such territory according to the last preceding equalized assess-
ment roll of the County of Los Angeles, requesting that said unin-
habited territory be annexed to, incorporated and included within
theCity ot Arcadia, all pursuant to the Annexation of Uninhabited
Territory Act of 1939, as amended; and
WHEREAS, said proposal for the annexation of said territory
to the City of Arcadia had been submitted to and reported upon to
the proponents by the Boundary Collllll1ssion of the County of Los
Angeles with tJe,spect to the definiteness and certainty of the pro-
posed boundaries, pursuant to Section 35002 of the Government Code
of the State of' California;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES
F'IND AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION l. That the petition in writing for the annexation
of certain ininhabited territory hereinafter more part~cularly des-
cribed, lying contiguous to the territory contained within the
corporate boundaries of the City of Arcadia, was signed by the owners
of not less than one-fourth of the assessed value of such territory
according to the last preceding equalized assessment roll of the
County of Los J~eles; that said proposal for the annexation of
uninhabited teJ'ritory to the City of Arcadia had theretofore been
submitted to and reported upon to the propondents by the Boundar)'
Collllllission of i.he County of Los Angeles with respect to the de-
finiteness and certainty of the proposed boundary.

SECTION 2. That pursuant to the provisions of the Annexation
of Uninhabited Territo~ Act of 1939, as amended, notice is hereby
given that on December 22, 1953, at 8:00 o'clock P.M. in the Council
Chambers of the City of Arcadia, any person owning real property
within such terl'itory so proposed to be anneaedand having any
objection to the proposed annexation, may appear before the City
Council of said City of Arcadia and show cause why such territor,J
should not be s() annexed.

That said territory shall be and the same is hereby designated
as West Arcadia Annexation No.9.
SECTION 3. That a specific description of the boundaries of
said territory 110 proposed to be annexed is as follows:
Beginning at the northw.st corner of Lot 4, Santa Anita Land
Company's pumping Plant No.l Tract, as shown on map recor4ed
in Book 10, Page l83 of Maps, in the office of the Recorder
of Los Angeles County, said point of beginning being in the
southerly line of Duarte Road, 60 feet wide, and on the
boundary line of the City of Arcadia as same existed on
September 24, 1953; thence southerly 372.35 feet along the
Westerly line of said Lot 4 and its southerly prolomgation
to a point; thence easterly 114.77 feet parallel 'flth the
northerly line of Lot 2 of said Santa Anita Land Company's
Pumping Plant No.1 Tract, to a point; thence southerly parallel
with the westerly line of said Lot 2, 285 feet more or less to
the northerly line of Naomi Avenue 50 feet wide; thence east-
erly 100.9 feet along the northerly line of said Naomi Avenue
t. tbe southwest corner of Lot 23, Tract No.6925, as shown on
map recorded in Book 74, Page 79, of Maps, in the office of
the Recorc1'!Ir of Los Angeles County; tbence northerly along the
westerly line of said Lot 23, 223.71 feet more or less, to an
angle point in said boundary line of theCity of Arcadia; thence
westerly and northerly along last mentioned boundary line and
following the same in all its various courses to the point of
beginning.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk of the City of Arcadia shall certify

to the adoption of this Resolution, and shall cause a copy of this
Resolution to be published at least twice, but not oftener than once
a we~, in the ,lrcadia Bulletin, a newspaper of general circulation
published in the City of Arcadia, and also in a newspaper of general
circulation published outside of the City of Arcadia but in the
County of Los Angeles, said publication to be complete at least
twenty days prior to the first public hearing on such proposed an-
nexatioa; and the City Clerk shall also cause written notice of
such proposed annexation to be mailed not less than twenty days
before the first public hearing on such proposed annexation, to each

. person to whom land within the territory proposed to be annexed is
assessed in the last equalized County assessment roil available on
the date the proceedinge were initiated, at the address shown"on
said assessment roll or as known to said Cit~ Clerk, and to any per-
son who has filed his name and address and the designation or the
lands in which he has any interest, either legal or equitable, with
said City Clerk, all as provided in Section 35Jll of the Government
Code of the State of California.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resdutionwas adopted

on the l7th day or November, 1953, by the affirmative vote or at
