LRCADIA, CALIFORNIA, CONSENTING TO THE ANNEXATION
BY THE CITY OF !J0NROVIA OF A PORTION OF PECK ROAD
/.ND CERTAIN PARCELS OF CONTIGUOUS PROP1>RTY OIINED
BY THE CITY OF I:ONROVIA, PURSUANT TO SECTION
35304.5 OF THE GOVERNMENT CODE

Th'E CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFCRNIA, DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AS FOLLO,','S:
YTHEREAS, pursuant to the "Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of
1939", as amended, the City Council of the City of 1I0nrovia, on its orm motion
qy Resolution No. 2324 N. s. has heretofore initiated proceedings for the
annexation to the City of M0nrovia of certain uninhabi.ted territory contiguous
to and adjacent to the city limits of the City of Uonrovia, and near the
southerly portion of the City of Monrovia in the County of Los Angeles, State
of California, but winch territory is not a part of any other municipal

corporation, and which said territory proposed to be annexed is more part i-
cularly described as follows:

Beginning at the intersection of the Southerly boundary of the
City of Monrovia as same existed on October 23, 19~3 .vith the easterly
line of Peck Road as shown on map of Tract No. 14211 recorded in Book
369, pages 14 and 15 of Maps in the office of the Recorder of the County
of Los Angeles; thence southerly along said easterly line to the south-
erly line of said tract; thence westerly along said southerly line to the
easterly line of Peck Road as shown on map filed in Book 32 page 20 of
Record of Surveys in office of said recorder; thence southerly along said
last mentioned easterly line and continuing southerly along the easterly
line of Peck Road as described in deed to the County of Los AngeJe s
recorded in Book 7014 page 303 of Official Records in the office of said
recorder, to the southerly line of Lot A of Stewart & Mulford Subdivision
as sho?{Jl on map recorded in Book 15 Page 40 of Miscellaneous Records in
the office of said recorder; thence easterly along said last mentioned
southerly line to the easterlJ' line of Peck Road as described in deed
to the County of Los Angeles recorded in Book 6683 page 67 of said
Official Records; thence southerly along said last mentioned easterly
line to the southerly line of Lot B of said Subdivision; thence westerly
along said last mentioned southerly line to the easterly line of Peck
Road as described in deed to the County of Los Jlngeles recorded in Book
6781 page 127 of said Official Records; thence southerly along said last
mentioned easterly line to the southerly line of Lot D of said Subdivision;
thence easterly along said last mentioned southerly line to the easterly
line of Peck Road as shown on map of Tract 14247 recorded in Book 312
pages 32 and 33 of said Maps; thence southerly along said last mentioned
easterly lina, southerly along the easterly line of Peck Road as sho.vn on
map of Tract No. 12176 recorded in Book 305 pages 30 to 32 inclusive of
said l'apS, a~d southerly along the easterly line of Peck Road as described
in deed to County of Los .\ngeles recorded in Book 4727 page 158 of said
Official Records, to the northerly line of Parcell as described in deed
to the City of Monrovia recorded in Book 674l page 211 of Deeds in the
office of said recorder; thence easterly along said northerly line and

Superior Court of the State of California in and for the County of Los
Angeles, a certified copy of which is recorded in Book 34799 page 361 of
said Official Records, to the southwesterly line of the I. H. Polk Tract
as shown on map recorded in Book 15 Page 17 of said Uaps; thence north-
westerly along said southwesterly line to the easterly line of the strip
of land 60 feet wide (Peck Road) as described in deed to County of Los
Angeles recorded in Book 6638 page 303 of said Official Records; thence
southerly along said last mentioned easterly line to the northeasterly
p~ongation of the southeasterly line of Peck Road (60 feet wide) as
shovm on map of Tract No. 1888 recorded in Book 21. oage 183 of said

line to the most westerly corner of Lot 2 of said last mentioned tract;
thence southeasterly along the southwesterly line of said last mentioned
lot to the northwesterly line of the southeasterly 70 feet of said ];lst

official records; thence southeflsterly in a direct line to the ~
easterly corner of said last mentioned parcel of land; thence southwester-
ly in a direct line to the most southerly corner of said last mentioned
parcel of land; thence northwesterly in a direct line through the most
westerly corner of said last mentioned parcel of land to the narthvfCst-
erly line of Peck Road (60 feet wide) as shawn on said map of Tract
No. 1888; thence northeasterly along said lest mentioned northwesterly
line to the southerly line of Tract No. 15401 as shovm on !:lap recorded
in Book 338 pages 14 and 15 of said Mapsl thence westerly in a direct
line to the southeasterly corner of Lot 14 of said last mentioned tract;
thence northeasterly along a line that is concentric with and 50 feet
northvresterly measured radially from the center linc of Peck Road as
sho~m on said last mentioned map to the center line of Live Oak Avenue;
thence easterly along said last mentioned center line to a line that is
concentric with and 30 feet westerly measured radial~y from said center
line of Peck Road; thence northerly along said last mentioned concentric
line to the westerly line of aforementioned strip of land 60 feet wide
(Peck Road) as described in said deed recorded in Book 6638 Page 303 of
Official Records; thence northerly along said last mentioned westerly
line and continuing northerly along the westerly line of Peck Road as
shown on said map filed in Book 32 page 20 of Record of Survenys to said
southerly boundary of the City of Monrovia; thence easterly along said
southerly boundary to the point of beginning.

YIHRREIl.S, the City Council of the City of Monrovia is desirous of annexing
said uninhabited territory for the reason that the City of Monrovia owns property
south of and outside of its city limits on TIhich property are water wells used qy

and which are necessary for the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens
of the said city, and also other city-owned property further south of said
wells formerly used as a sewer farm for the city, and now used and essential
for use as a garbage e.nd refuse transfer stati.on for the City of Monrovia, and
the annexation of said property is necessary to insure the continued use of
said property as a garbage and refuse transfer station, all of which purposes
are essential to the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the City of
Monrovia, and for the efficient enforcement of ]a lV, and order; and
WHEREAS, frt appears from the aforesaid Resolution No. 2324 N. S. of the
City Council of the City of Monrovia that the proposal for the annexation of
said territory \laS submitted to the Boundary Commission of the County of Los
Angeles, and favorably reported upon to the proponents by the said Boundary
Commission of the County of Los Angeles with respect to the definiteness and
certainty of the proposed boundaries pursuant to Section 35002 of the Government
Code of the State of California; and
',1HEREAS, said territory is uninhabited and is contiguous to the City of
Monrovia, and is not a part of any other municipal corporation; and
\1HEREAS, Section 35304.5 of the Government Code of the State of Califom ia
prov.ides that if any portion of such territory or street, highw~ or road proposed
to be annexed is situated within three miles of the boundaries of any other
city, the consent of the :legislative body of said city shall first be obtained,
and

WHEREAS, a portion, or all of the territory proposed to b e annexed is
within three miles of the boundaries of the City of Arcadia, and the :legislative
body of said Cit;( of Arcadia has no objection to the annexation of the sai.d
territory to the City of Monrovia;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT F.ESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
California, pursuant to the "Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of 19391';
as amended, does hereby consent to the annexation of the above described territory
to the City of Monrovia.
