RESOLUTION NO.2316
A HESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA,CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING AND ADOPTING THE
FIlIDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE PLANNING
COI4.MISSION OF SAID CITY, AND DENYING THE APPLI-
CATION FOR A VARIANCE AFFECTING CERTAIN REAL
PROPERTY IN SAID CITY.

WHEREAS, on July 22, 1952, there was filed with the Planning
Commission of the City of Arcadia the petition of Ina L. Hance as
owner requestulg a zone variance affeoting the following describ-
ed property in said CitYI to-wit:
A part of Lot 6, Tract NO.949, as shown on map recorded
in Book 17, page 13 of Maps, records of Los Angeles County,
described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the l(a'llt line of Lot 6 distant Korth
20 58' 25" East 216.12 feet from the North line of Huntington
Drive; thence North ~o 01' 35" 'fest 260 feet!. thence North
2058' 25" East 216.13 feet; thence South 8700 ' 35" East 260
feet; thence South 20 58' 25" WElot 216.13 feet to the point
of beginning, and being located on the West side of Baldwin
Avenue North of Huntington Drive,
to permit the property to be used for a retail and wholesale nursery
business with a one story structure to house nursery stock and to
provide office and sales room space; and
WHER~~S, after notice required by Ordinance No.760 of said
City a public bearing on this matter was duly held before the
Planning Commission of the City of Arcadia, on August 12, 1952,
at which time all interested persons were given an opportunity to
be heard and tel present evidence; and
WHEREAS, in the opinion of the said City Planning Commission
there are exceptional circumstances not similarly applicable in
the 88mB vicinity and zone as previously determined in Resolution
No.70 of said Planning Commission, but that such circumstances
are not such ae to make the aforesaid property undesirable for
the uses for which it may lawfully be used; and in the opinion
of said Planning Commission the granting of the requested variance
would be detrimental and injurious to other properties in the
same vicinity and zone and the granting of such variance is not
necessary for the protection of substantial property rights of
the applicant; and
WHEREAS, at the request of the applicant public hearing on

. said application and the recommendations of the Planning Commission
vas held by and before this City Council. after due notice. on
Novembe r 5, 1952. at which time the records, files and recommendations
of the planning COmmission were considered and further evidence
received and all persons present were given full opportunity to
bel heard) and
WHEREAS, said City Planning Commission has recommended in
its Resolution No.90 passed, approved and adopted September 23,
. 1952, that the aforesaid petition be denied for the reasons more
fully set forth therein.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Arcadia
does hereby find, determine and resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. That the findings of the City Planning Com-
mission as set forth in its said Resolution No.90 be and each of
the same are hereby adopted and 'made the findings of the City
Council the same as if herein again specifically set forth in full.
SECTION 2. That the recommendation of the said City Plan-

ning COmmission, as set forth in its said Resolution No.90 be and
the same is he:reby approved in full, and that the request of said
petitioner tor a zone variance as hereinbefore described, be and
the same is hereby denied.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption

of this Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
held on the 2nd day of December, 1952, by the follOWing vote:
