RESOLUTION NO.2386
. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING THE BUSINESS
OF "CHINESE" OR "FRENCH" HAND :E.AUNDRY TO BE A
USE PERMISSIBLE IN JONE C-2 UNDER ORDINANCE NO.
760 OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA.
THE CITY C~UNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DOES FIND, DETERMINE
AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. That under the provisions of Ordinance No.760
of the City of Arcadia containing the itemization of specific uses
permitted in the various zones thereby established, there is no
appropriate classification for a small, specialized type laundry,
conducted l1.n a small store room similar to the so-called "Chinese"
or "French" hand laundry, but utilizing in the place of hand-
finishing a small boiler for the furnishing of steam and specially
designed presses for finishing the work, no flammable liquids of
explosive substances being employed in the operation.
SECTION 2. That Section 15 of said Ordinance NO.760 provides
in part that if' any "use" is for any reason omitted from the lists
of those specified as permissible in each of the various zones, it
. shall be the duty of the City Planning Commission to ascertain all

pertinent facts concerning said use, and by resolution of record set
forth its findings and the reasons thereof, and such findings and
resolutions shall be referred to the City Council, and if approved
by the City Council, thereafter such interpretation shall govern.
SECTION 3. That the Planning Commission of the City of Arcadia
has investigated the matter and ascertained the pertinent facts
and has made its findings and recommendations by and under its
resolution No.3 passed, approved and adopted August 4, 1949.
SECTION 4. That the business of a small specialized laundry,
conducted in a small store-room similar to the so-called "Chinese" or
.
"French" hand la.undry, but utilizing in the place of hand finishing
a small boiler for the furnishing of steam and specially designed
presses for the finishing of the work, no flammable liquids or
explosive substances to be employed in the operation. The Council
expressly reserves the right further to define or limit the business
hereinable described, as further investigation or hearings may
indicate the necessity so to do; and such future definition or

limitations shall not be deemed to infringe any rights of busi-
nesses that may commence operations under the terms hereof, and
all such businesses shall at all times be subject to any further
definitions or limitations hereinafter imposed by the City Council
and shall acquire no vested rights contrary thereto.
SE~~ION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution. .

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council held on the 2nd
day of June, 1953, by the affirmative vote of at least three
Councilmen, to-wit:
AYES: Councilmen Dew, Kennett and Nottingham
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilmen Hulse and Schmocker
