RESOLUTION NO. 3932
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
DETERMINING THAT THE PUBLIC INTEREST,
CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY REQUIRE THE
ACQUISITION OF CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY
FOR PUBLIC PURPOSES AND ORDERING THE
ACQUISITION THEREOF.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the public interest, convenience and
necessity require the acquisition by the City of Arcadia of the
fee simple title in and to the property hereinafter described
..
for a public use, namely for the realignment, opening, widening
and improvement of Duarte Road. That the use for which such
land is to be acquired is a use authorized by law; that the
taking of such.property is necessary to such use.

which is thus required is more particularly described as follows,

Parcel 25
Lot 4 of Tract No. 10726, in the City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State of Cali-
fornia, as per map recorded in Book 185, Page 31 of Maps, in the office of the County
Recorder of said County, described as follows:
Beginning at the southeasterly corner of said Lot 4, thence northerly, along the easterly
line of said Lot 4 to a line parallel with and distant northerly 12.00 feet, measured at
right angles from the southerly line of said Lot 4; thence westerly, along said parallel
line to the beginning of a tangent curve concave northeasterly and having a radius of
15.00 feet, said curve being tangent at its westerly terminus to the westerly line of
said Lot 4; thence westerly and northwesterly along said curve to said westerly line of
Lot 4; thence southerly along said last mentioned westerly line to the southwesterly
corner of said Lot 4; thence easterly along said southerly line of Lot 4 to the point
of beginning.

The southerly 12.00 feet, measured at right angles of Lot 5 of Tract No. 10726, in the

The southerly 12.00 feet, measured at right angles of Lot 7 of Tract No. 10726, in the
City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State of California, as per map recorded in
Book 185, Pages 31 and 32 of Maps in the office of the County Recorder of said County.

The southerly 12 feet measured at right angles of those portions of Lots 9 and 10, of
Tract No. 10726, in the City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State of California,
as per map recorded in Book 185, Pages 31 and 32 of Maps, in the office of the County
Recorder of said County, described as follows:
Beginning at the southwest corner of said Lot 9; thence along the west line of said
lot North O. 00' 20" West 279.29 feet; thence North 89. 59' 40" East to the west line
of the land described in the deed to John Gordon Fraser, et ux., recorded January 2,
1951 in Book 35202, Page 360, Official Records, of said County; thence along said
last mentioned west line South O. 00' 20" East to the south line of said Lot 10;
thence along the south lines of said lots, South 81. West 87.50 feet to the point of

West 101.24 feet to a line that is parallel with the east line of said Lot 10 and that

The southerly 12.00 feet, measured at right angles of Lot 23 of Tract No. 11969, in
the City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State of California, as per map recorded

Parcel 39
That portion of Lot 22 of Tract No. 11969, in the City of Arcadia, County of Los
Angeles, State of California, as per map recorded in Book 259, Pages 36 and 37 of
Maps, in the office of the County Recorder of said County, described as follows:
Beginning at the southwesterly corner of said Lot 22, thence northerly along the
westerly line of said Lot 22 to a line parallel with and distant northerly 12.00 feet,
measured at right angles, form the tangent portion of the southerly line of said Lot
22, and its easterly prolongation; thence easterly along said parallel line to the
beginning of a tangent curve concave northwesterly and having a radius of 15.00 feet,
said curve also being tangent at its easterly terminus to the tangent portion of the
easterly line of said Lot 22; thence easterly and northeasterly along said curve to

easterly line of said Lot 21 to a line parallel with and distant northerly 12.00 feet,
measured at right angles, from the tangent portion of the southerly line, and its
westerly prolongation of said Lot 21; thence westerly along said parallel line to the
beginning of a tangent curve concave northeasterly and having a radius of 15.00 feet,
said curve also being tangent at its westerly terminus to the tangent portion of the

Beginning at a point in the northerly line of said lot, distant easterly thereon 452.38
feet from the northwesterly corner thereof; thence southerly parallel with the westerly
line of said lot, a distance of 342.04 feet; thence North 850 27' 36" East 100.31 feet;
thence northerly parallel with said westerly line of said lot 349.94 feet to the
northerly line of said lot; thence westerly along said northerly line 101.24 feet to
the point of beginning.
Parcel 62
The northerly 12.00 feet, measured at right angles, of the northerly 202.00 feet,
measured along the westerly line of that portion of Lot 1 of Tract No. 951, in the
City of'Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State of California, as per map recorded in
Book 17, Page 28 of Maps, in the office of the County Recorder of said County,
described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the northerly line of said lot, distant easterly thereon
452.38 feet from the northwesterly corner thereof; thence southerly parallel with
the westerly line of said lot, a distance of 342.04 feet; thence North 850 27' 36"
East 200.62 feet; thence northerly parallel with said westerly line of said lot
357.84 feet to the northerly line of said lot; thence westerly along said northerly
line 202.48 feet to the point of beginning.
EXCEPT the westerly 73 feet of said land.
Parcel 64
The northerly 12 feet measured at right angles of that portion of Lot 1 of Tract No.
951, in the City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State of California, as per map
recorded in Book 17, Page 28 of Maps, in the office of the County Recorder of said
County, described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the northerly line of said Lot 1, distant easterly thereon
1161.06 feet from the northwesterly corner thereof; thence southerly parallel with
the westerly line of said Lot 1, a distance of 397.32 feet; thence North 850 27' 36"
East 100.31 feet; thence northerly parallel with said westerly line of Lot 1, 405.22
feet to the northerly line of said Lot 1; thence westerly along said northerly line,
101.24 feet to the point of beginning.
EXCEPT the southerly 150 feet thereof.

above described property.

Map recorded in Book 17, Page 28 of Maps, in the office of the County Recorder of
said County, described as follows:
Commencing at the northwesterly corner of said Lot 1; thence North 810 00' 00" East,
along the northerly line thereof, 1262.30 feet to the northeasterly corner of the
land described in deed to Grace A. Milliken, recorded in Book 12740, Page 180, of
Official Records of said County, being the true point of beginning; thence South
00 01' 30" East, parallel with the westerly line of said Lot 1, a distance of 405.22
feet; thence North 850 27' 36" East 100.31 feet to the southeasterly corner of the

map recorded in Book 197, Page 47 of Maps, in the office of the County Recorder of
said County, described as follows:
Beginning at the northwest corner of said Lot 5; thence South 10 04' 33" East along
the westerly line of said Lot 5, a distance of 436.80 feet, more or less, to the
southwest corner of said Lot 5; thence along the south line of said Lot 5, a dis-
tance of 100 feet to a point; thence North 10 04' 33" West parallel to the westerly
line of said Lot 5, a distance of 283.16 feet, more or less, to its intersection
with the westerly line of the Los Angeles County Flood Control District right-of-way,

of said County; thence southerly along said westerly line to the southerly line of
the northerly 12.00 feet, measured'at right angles of said lot; thence easterly
along said southerly line to the beginning of a tangent curve concave southwesterly
having a radius of 20.00 feet and being tangent at its southerly terminus with the
easterly line of said lot; thence southeasterly along said curve to said easterly
line of lot 1; thence 'northerly along said easterly line to the southerly corner
of the land described in the deed to the City of Arcadia, recorded on July 25, 1962
as Instrument No. 3757 in Book D-1696, Page 932, of said Official Records; thence
northwesterly along the southwesterly line of said last mentioned land being tangent
curve concave southwesterly having a radius of 20 feet, to its intersection with
the southerly boundary of said land described in Book 21540, Page 72 of said Official
Records; thence westerly, northerly snd westerly along said southerly boundary to

SECTION 3. That the City Attorney be and he is hereby
authorized and instructed to institute proceedings in eminent do-
main in the name of the City of Arcadia in the Superior Court of
the state of California in and for the County of Los Angeles for
the condemnation in fee simple of the real property described in
Section 2 of this Resolution, all of which real property is re-
quired by the City of Arcadia as set forth in Section 1 of this
Resolution, and for such purpose he is authorized at his discretion
to employ associate counsel and to be reimbursed for the reason-
able value of all services rendered in connection therewith.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution.
