RESOLUTION NO. 3857
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
PROVIDING FOR THE WIDENING AND EXTENSION
OF BALDWIN AVENUE IN SAID CITY.
WHEREAS, on August 26, 1961, the Board of Supervisors of
Los Angeles County adopted a resolution wherein and whereby, among
other things, the opening of Baldwin Avenue between Colorado Street
and Foothill Boulevard, including the crossing of the Atchison,
Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, was declared to be of general county
interest, and whereby said Board of Supervisors declared its inten-
tion to appropriate and allocate funds to assist in the financing
of such opening of Baldwin Avenue by the preparation of plans and
specifications therefor and the allocation of Two Hundred Thousand
Dollars ($200,000) for the construction thereof; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Arcadia pursuant to its Resolution
No. 3412 adopted September 5, 1961, entered into an Agreement with
the State Division of Highways for the aforesaid opening of Baldwin
Avenue, which Agreement provides among other things that the State
shall be responsible for the cost of the interchange facilities
with the Foothill Freeway and for the cost of the Baldwin Avenue
extension northerly of the Santa Fe Railway right-of-way and for
one-half of the cost of the Baldwin Avenue separation structure at
Colorado Boulevard; and,
WHEREAS, aforesaid Agreement provides that Baldwin Avenue
shall be an improved 76-foot roadway with an 88-foot wide street
dedication; and,
WHEREAS, the plans for the widening and improvement of
BaldWin Avenue and its opening between Colorado Street and Foothill
Boulevard require the acquisition of additional Baldwin Avenue
right-of-way south of Colorado Boulevard upon and across property
presently occupied by the Los Angeles County and State Arboretum;
and,

WHEREAS, under aforesaid Agreement it is the obligation
of the City of Arcadia to see that such right-of-way is acquired
prior to the construction of the Foothill Freeway in this area and
prior to the aforesaid extension of Baldwin Avenue in connection
therewith;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE that the City of Arcadia will per-
form or cause to be performed the following work necessary to clear
the required right-of-way:
1. Relocation of the metal lathe house;
2. Construction of retaining walls, three in number,
and reconstruction of the areas back of each for use as nursery
areas;

Construction of a six foot asphaltic walkway on the

Relocation of the existing water lines;
Relocation of a chain link fence to conform with the
line.
The City of Arcadia shall perform the foregoing work in
consideration of the granting to the City of Arcadia by the County
of an easement for road purposes in, on, upon and across that cer-
tain real property located in the City of Arcadia, County of Los
Angeles, State of Ca.lifornia, described as follows:
That portion of Lot 1, Tract No. 949, as shown
on map recorded in Book 17, Page 13, of Maps
in the office of the Recorder of Los Angeles
County, described as follows:
Beginning at the most northeasterly corner of
the parcel of land des~ribed in Deed to the
State of California, recorded October 2, 1947
in Book 25135, Page 371, of Official Records
in the office of said Recorder; thence South
89023'54" West along the northerly line of said
parcel 117.79 feet; thence South 45036'06" East
28.28 feet; thence South 00036'06" East 259.46
feet to the beginning of a tangent curve that
is concave to the northeast and having a radius
of 72 feet; thence southeasterly along said
curve 113.09 feet to a point of reverse curvature
with a curve concave to the southwest and having
a radius of 30 feet; thence southeasterly along
said curve 6.05 feet to the easterly line of
the above mentioned parcel; thence North 02036'57"
East along said easterly line 352.62 feet to the
point of beginning.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
resolution.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held
on the 15th day of March ,1966, by the affirmative vote of at
least three Councilmen, to wit:
