HomeMy WebLinkAbout3761 RESOLUTION NO. 3761 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, COMMENDING RAY A. BURKE ON THE OCCASION OF THE AWARD TO HIM OF THE CARNEGIE MEDAL FOR HEROISM. WHEREAS, in December of 1963, Mr. Ray A. Burke risked great personal injury and in fact his very life in rescuing the pilot, co- pilot and engineer of an airplane that had crashed in Texas; and, WHEREAS, his selflessness, heroism and bravery have been nationally recognized not only by all mass news media but by the forthcoming award of the Carnegie Medal for Heroism; and, WHEREAS, his conduct in time of personal peril is in sharp contrast to man's apathy at the plight of fellow-man which has received so much publicity of late; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES ,RESOLVE that this City Council, on behalf of its mem- bers individually and the people by them represented, do hereby join in recognizing the heroism of Ray A. Burke and on the occasion of his receiving the Carnegie Medal for Heroism acknowledge with pride his Arcadia citizenship, with the sincere hope that his exemplary conduct will be an inspiration to others to forget self and to assist fellow- man in times of need or peril. The City Clerk shall certify t9 the adoption of this resolu- tion and shall cause a suitable copy hereof to be presented to its honored citizen, Ray A. Burke.
