A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
FIXING. THE MAXIMUM RATES CHARGEABLE
FOR THE COLLECTION AND REMOVAL OF
GARBAGE AND REFUSE IN THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION
NO. 2790.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, does
determine and resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 1 of Article
V of ~he Arcadia Municipal Code, the City Council of the City of Arcadia
,
does hereby fix, deterrnane and establish the fOllowing maximum rates
for the colleeti0n and removal of garbage and refuse in the City of
Arcadia. The rates thus fixed and determined shall remain in effect
until modified by the City Council by resolution to coincide with changes
in the prevailing costs of operation.
SECTION 2. The following maximum rates are hereby fixed for
single family dwellings:
A. For the regularly scheduled pick-up once a week from curb
or alley of combined residential combustible and noncombustible rubbish
and wrapped gareage, not to exceed one (1) loose cubie yard or one
hundred (100) pounds, two and nO/lOO dollars ($2.00) per month for service
on an annual basis.
B. For regularly scheduled pick-up once a week from a rear
yard where the distance between place of pick-up and the nearest public
street or alley is one hundred fifty (150) feet or less, of combined

SECTION 3. The following maximum rates are hereby fixed for
duplexes:
For regularly scheduled pick-up once a week from curb or
alley of combined residential combustible and noncombustible rubbish
and wrapped garbage, not to exceed one (1) loose cubic yard or one
hundred (100) pounds, three and nO/lOO dollars ($3.00) per month for

each duplex for service on an annual basis and to be paid for by the
landlord.
SECTION 4. The following maximum rates are hereby fixed
for triplexes:
For regularly scheduled pick-up once a week from curb or
alley of combined residential combustible and noncombustible rubbish
and wrapped garbage, not to exceed one (1) loose cubic yard or one
hundred (100) pounds, three and 75/100 dollars ($3.75) per month for
each triplex for service on an annual basis and to be paid for by the
landlord.
SECTION 5. The following maximum rates are hereby fixed
for apartment houses containing from four (4) to nine (9) dwelling
units:
For regularly scheduled pick-up once a week of combined
residential combustible and noncombustible rubbish and wrapped garbage,
one and nO/lOO dollars ($1.00) per month per dwelling unit (whether

occupied or not) for service on an annual basis and paid for by the
landlord,or by central management.
SECTION 6. The following maximum rates are hereby fixed
for apartment houses containing ten (10) or more dwelling units:

For regularly scheduled pick-up twice a week of combined
residential combustible and noncombustible rubbish and wrapped garbage,
one dollar ($1.00) per month per dwelling unit (whether occupied or not)
for service on an annual basis and paid for by the landlord. or by central
management.

SECTION 7. The following maximum rates are hereby established
for special services:
For the special pick-up of material already assembled,
One and 50/l00 dollars ($1.50) per loose cubic yard or one hundred
(100) pounds or portion thereof, with a minimum of six and nO/lOO dollars
($6.00) per pick-up and to be paid upon completion of the work.
SECTION 8. The following maximum rates are hereby fixed for
the collection and removal of garbage only from commercial establish-
ments:

B. Dry garbage (market greens and vegetable cuttings):

SECTION 9. The following maximum rates are hereby fixed for
containers for mechanical loading of refuse:
A. Three (3) cubic yard capacity, rental of eight and nO/lOO

dollars ($8.00) per month per container.
B. One and one-half (l~) cubic yard capacity, rental of six

and nO/lOO dollars ($6.00) per month per container.

C. Other sizes, when placed in service, at proportionate rates
fixed by the City Council by resolution.
D. Landlords shall use sufficient containers to hold all
refuse emanating from the premises. Containers shall be placed at lo-
cations readily accessible to Contractor's equipment. Customers electing
to use containers for mechanical loading shall use such containers ex-
clusively.

E. Adjustment of rates specified by this Section may be reques-
ted annually, and adju~tments made to coincide with changed costs of supply-
ing the same.
F. . Containers may be provided by customers only if designed and
made to Contractor's specifications so as to fit Contractor's equipment.
Containers supplied by customers shall be maintained by customer in good
repair and shall be painted at least once a year, and the Contractor shall
not be liable for damage to or for the painting and general maintenance of
containers supplied by customers.
G. The City Manager shall have authority to settle all disputes
concerning the applicable rates and sufficiency and location of containers,
and his decision shall be final subject only to appeal to the City Council.
SECTION 10.

may be billed at the end of one month's service, and shall be due and pay-
able upon presentation.
SECTION 11. For the purposes of this resolution, the following
. .
words or phrases shall have the following meanings respectively:
A. "Regularly scheduled pick-up" shall mean the pick-up at the
times and dates specified by the City Manager pursuant to Chapter 1 of
Article V of the Arcadia Municipal Code.
B. "Special pick-up" shall mean the pick-up other than at the
times and dates specified by the City Manager pursuant to Chapter 1 of
Article V of the Arcadia Municipal Code of refuse not normally arising out
of the day-to-day operation of a residential establishment.
SECTION 12. That Resolution No.. 2790 entitled "A RESOLUTION OF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, FIXING THE MAXIMUM

November.l, 1964~'
SECTION 13. The within Resolution shall become effective and
operative on November 1, 1964.

SECTION 14. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held
on the 18th day of
