RESOLUTION NO. 3603
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
DESIGNATING AND ADOPTING THE AZALEA
AS THE OFFICIAL FLOWER OF SAID CITY.
WHEREAS, The Community Beautification Committee of the
Arcadia Chamber of Commerce has spent a substantial amount of time
and effort studying the value of an official city flower for Arcadia;
and,
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the City of Arcadia
select an appropriate flower to be used in community promotion and
publici ty; and,
WHEREAS, the Azalea is not only a beautiful flower but
also comprises numerous varieties, some of which grow well in the
sun, some in the shade, some can stand substantial amounts of water,
and others need little water, thus rendering the Azalea adaptable
to almost any condition;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the Azalea be designated and adopted as
the official flower of the City of Arcadia.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held
on the 16th day of
July
, 1963, by the affirmative vote of at
least three Councilmen, to wit:
