RESOLUTION NO. 3694
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
AMENDING SECTION 5--IHOLIDAYS" OF
RULE IX--"LEAVES" OF.THE PERSONNEL
RULES AND REGULATIONS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Section 5 of Rule IX of the Personnel Rules
and Regulations is hereby amended to read as follows:
RULE IX . LEAVES
SECTION 5: HOLIDAYS
(a) Each employee in the Classified Service, except uniformed
members of the Police and Fire Departments, shall be allowed with full
pay the following holidays and no others, to wit:
Every Saturday
Every Sunday
New Year's Day--January 1
Washington's Birthday--February 22
Good Friday--from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Memorial Day--May 30
Independence Day--July 4
Labor Day--lst Monday in September
Admission Day--September 9
Thanksgiving Day--4th Thursday in November
Christmas Day--December 25
Every day appointed by the President or Governor
for a publiC fast, thanksgiving or holiday
vfuenever New Year's Day--Januaryl, WaShington's Birthday--February 22,
Memorial Day--May 30, Independence Day--July 4, Admission Day--Septem-
ber 9, Christmas Day--December 25, or any day appointed by the President
or Governor for a publiC fast, thanksgiving or holiday, falls on a Sat-
urday or Sunday, the Friday preceding or the Monday following, respectively,
shall be a holiday, for the purpose of this subsection (a).
(b) Uniformed members of the Police and Fire Departments shall
be allowed the following holidays with full pay and no others, to wit:
New Year's Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day
January 1
May 30
July 4
1st Monday in September
4th Thursday in November
December 25

If any holiday specified in this subsection (b) falls on a Saturday or
Sunday, the Friday preceding or the Monday following, respectively,
shall be a holiday, for the purpose of this subsection (b).
(c) Any employee may be required to work on any holiday
allowed to him by this Section, in whicheve~t he shall be given either
compensating time off or overtime pay at straight time rates at the
discretion of the appointing power unless the City Council authorizes
payment of overtime at more than straight time rates.
(d) A holiday allowed by this Section to an employee occur-
ring during any leave of absence with pay shall be added to the number
of working days' leave of absence to which such employee is entitled.
(e) In case of an employee working a sixty~seven hour week,
if a portion of a work shift falls on a holiday allowed to such employee
by this Section, twelve hours shall be added to each of such employee's
off-shift period.
SECTION 2. This Resolution shall be operative upon the
effective date of Ordinance No. 1253.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held
on the 4th
day of August
, 1964, by the affirmative vote of
at least three Councilmen, to wit:
