RESOLUTION NO. 3500
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
1BE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
AMENDING SECTION 2 OF RULE I AND
SECTION 3 OF RULE IV OF THE PERSONNEL
RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Section 2 of Rule I of the Personnel
Rules and Regulations supplementing the Personnel System of the
City of Arcadia, California, as adopted by Resolution No. 2769 on
May 1, 1956, and as amended by Resolution No. 3381 adopted May 16,
1961, shall hepeby again be amended to read as follows:
RULE I. DEFINITION OF TERMS.
SECTI0N 2. EMPLOYMENT DATE: Employment date for each em-
ployee shall be the date on which such employee was first appointed
(other than under a temporary appointment) to a full time position
in the City employ. The period of continuous full time employment
from and after such employment date shall be used in computing sta-
bility pay, sick leave, vacation and the applicable salary step;
provided however, that when an employee at the top step of his salary
range is promoted, his employment date solely for purposes of deter-
mining the applicable salary step shall be the date of such promo-
tion; and prOVided further, that service under a temporary appoint-
ment shall be considered as provided in Section 3(c) of Rule IX
hereof.
SECTION 2. That Section 3 of Rule IV of said Personnel
Rules and Regulations is hereby amended to read as follows:
RULE IV. COMPENSATION AND WAGE ADMINISTRATION.
SECTION 3. .~~OMOTION AND RECLA~SIFICATION, EFFECT ON
COMPENSATION:
(a)
Every full time employee in the Classified Service

of the City shall, upon promotion to a higher classification, be
paid the growth increment in such higher classification which is
next higher in amount above that theretofore received.
(b) When the position of a full-time employee is
reclassified to a higher class, the incumbent employee may be
appointed to the reclassified position without examination if in
the opinion of the appointing power such incumbent employee meets
the minimum requirements of the position.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held
on the 3rd day of
July , 1962, by the affirmative vote of at
least three Councilmen, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Balser, Phillips, Reibold, Turner
and Butterworth
