HomeMy WebLinkAbout3531 RESOLUTION NO. 3531 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, INSTITUTING PROCEEDINGS FOR, SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING CONCERNING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE TIME AND PLACE OF SUCH PUBLIC HEARING CONCERNING THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF ARCADIA OF CERTAIN TERRITORY ADJACENT AND CONTIGUOUS TO THE PRESENT CITY LIMITS OF SAID CITY, SAID TERRITORY BEING SITUATED NEAR THE SOUTHEASTERLY PORTION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA AND DESIGNATED AS "ANNEXATION NO. 30, SOUTHEAST ARCADIA (UNINHABITED)". .' THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That pursuant to the "Annexation of Unin- habited Territory Act of 1939", as amended, the City Council of the Clty of Arcadia, on its own motion, does hereby initiate pro- ceedings for the annexation to the City of Arcadia of certain un- inhablted territory contiguous and adJacent to the city limits of the Clty of Arcadia and situated near the southeasterly portion of the City of Arcadia as more particularly described in Section 5 hereinafter. SECTION 2. That the City Council of the City of Arcadia desires to annex such uninhabited territory to promote and insure the proper integration of said territory with the contiguou6 area already within the limits of the City of Arcadia, and to comply wi th the B ta ted desires of the owners of property in such area. SECTION 3. That the proposal for annexation of said territory to the City of Arcadia has been submitted to and favor- ably reported upon to the proponents by the Boundary Commission -l- 3531 of the County of Los Angeles as required by Section 35002 of the Government Code of the State of California. SECTION 4. That said territory is uninhabited, is con- tiguous to the City of Arcadia and is not a part of any other municipal corporation. SECTION 5. That pursuant to the "Annexation of Unin- habited Territory Act of 1939", as amended, the City Council of the City of Arcadia does hereby give notice of said proposed annexation; that said territory is hereby designated as "Annexation ,No. 30, Southeast Arcadia (Uninhabited)" and is particularly de- scribed and bounded as follows: -2- 3531 "ANNEXATION NO. 30, SOUTHEAST ARCADIA (UNINHABITED)" TO THE CITY OF ARCADIA Beginning at a point in the southwesterly boundary of the City of Arcadia, as same existed on October 1, 1962, said point being at the intersection of the southwesterly line of Clark Street, 50 feet wide, as shown on map of Chicago Park, recorded in Book 30, page 100, of Miscellaneous Records, in the office of the Recorder of Los Angeles County and the southeasterly line of Durfee Avenue, 80 feet wide, as shown on map of Tract No. 13286, recorded in Book 268, pages 29 to 32 inclusive, of Maps in the office of said Recorder of Los Angeles County; thence southwesterly along said southeasterly line 628.09 feet more or less, to its inter- 6ection with the southwesterly line of Randolph Street, as shown on map of said Chicago Park; thence southeasterly along the last mentioned line to an angle point in the existing City of Arcadia boundary; thence southeasterly along said boundary, following its various courses and distances to the point of beginning. That the City of Arcadia hereby gives notice of and fixes 'lledriesclay, January 2, 1963, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock p.m., in the COilllCil Chamber of the Arcadia City Hall, 240 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia, California, as the day, hour and place when and where the City Council of the City of Arcadia will hear protests made by any person owning real property within the terri- tory above descrlbed. At any time before the hour set for hearing objections, any owner (as defined by Section 35312 of the California Government Code) of property within the above-described territory may file written protest against the annexation. The protest shall , state the name of the owner of the property affected and the de- scription and area of the property in general terms. SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and shall cause a copy hereof to be published and mailed as required by Section 35311 of the California Govern- ment Code.
