HomeMy WebLinkAbout3543 RESOLUTION NO. 3543 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON THE 6TH DAY OF N9VEMBER, 1962, FOR TIlE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID CITY A PHOPOSITION TO BAN DOOR-TO-DOOR COMMERCIAL SOLICITATION. WHEREAS, at a special municipal election held in the City of Arcadia on the 6th day of November, 1962, which said election was according to law consolidated with the state-wide general election held in said City on said date, there was submitted to the qualified electors of said City a proposition to ban door-to-door commercial solicitation as hereinafter more specifically set forth; and, WHEREAS, the returns of said special municipal election were duly and regularly canvassed; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. That said City Council finds and declares the results of the votes cast by the qualified electors voting at said special municipal election of said City concerning said proposition to ban door-to-door commercial solicitation to be as f,ollows: That the total number of votes cast, including absentee ballots, for and against said proposition was That the total number of votes cast, including absentee ballots, in favor of said proposition was . 20,183 13,194 That the total number of votes cast, including absentee ballots, against said propositions was 6,989 SECTION 2. That the proposition to ban door-to-door com- mercial solicitation, for which said special municipal election was called and held and which was submitted to and voted upon by the voters of said City as aforesaid was as follows: -1- 3543 - PROPOSITION: Shall .Ordinance No. ll88 : entitled An ordinance of the People of YES the City of Arcadia, California, amend- in,g the Arcadia Municipal Code by adding thereto new Sections 6425.7, 6425.8 and : 6425.9, declaring the legislative policy of'the people of said City, prohibiting the soli'cHing of orders, peddling, hawk- ~ng, vendlng and sale of services, goods, wares and merchandise from door to door NO in the City of Arcadia without the invita- tion, consent or request of the homeowners or tenants in possession, and exempting there from charitable activities, be adopted? " SECTION ,3. That the City Council of the City of Arcadia hereby finds, determines and declares that the aforesaid proposition to ban door-to-door solicitation received a maJority of all votes cast thereon. SECTION 4. That said Ordinance No. n88 shall go into ~ffect ten (IO) days after the date of adoption hereof. SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
