RESOLUTION NO. 3400
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
INSTITUTING PROCEEDINGS FOR, SETTING
A PUBLIC HEARING CONCERNING AND
GIVING NOTICE OF THE TIME AND PLACE
OF SUCH PUBLIC HEARING CONCERNING
THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION TO THE CITY
OF ARCADIA OF CERTAIN TERRITORY
ADJACENT ,AND CONTIGUOUS TO THE
PRESENT CITY LIMITS OF SAID CITY,
SAID TERRITORY BEING SITUATED NEAR
THE EASTERLY PORTION OF THE CITY
OF ARCADIA AND DESIGNATED AS
"ANNEXATION NO. 25, EAST ARCADIA
UNINHABITED".
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
HEREBY DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That pursuant to the "Annexation of Unin-
habited Territory Act of 1939", as amended, the City Council of
the City of Arcadia, on its own motion, does h~reby initiate pro-
ceedings for the annexation to the City of Arcadia of certain
uninhabited territory contiguous and adjacent to the city limits
of the City of Arcadia and situated near the easterly portion of
the City of Arcadia as more particularly described in Section 5
hereinafter.
SECTION 2. That the City Council of the City of Arcadia
desires to annex such uninhabited territory to provide a more
orderly boundary at this location between the Cities of Monrovia
and Arcadia and to comply with the stated desires of the owners
of property in such area.
SECTION 3. That the proposal for the annexation of
said territory to the City of Arcadia has been submitted to and
favorably reported.upon to the proponents by the Boundary Commis-,
sion of the County of Los Angeles as required by Section 35002 of
the Government Code of the State of California.

SECTION 4. That said territory is uninhabited and is
contiguous to the City of Arcadia. That said territory is now a
part of the City of Monrovia, a municipal corporation. That the
legislative body of Monrovia has received the written consent of
at least two-thirds of the freeholders within the territory, hold-
ing at least two-thirds in value of the real property within the
territory, and the legislative body of Monrovia has by resolution
consented to the detachment of said territory from the City of
Monrovia and the"annexation thereof to the City of Arcadia.
SECTION 5. That pursuant to the "Annexation of Unin-
habited Territory Act of 1939", as amended, the City Council of
the City of Arcadia does hereby give notice of said proposed
annexation; that said territory is hereby designated as "Annexation
No. 25, East Arcadia Uninhabited" and is particularly described
and bounded as follows:

"ANNEXATION NO. 25, EAST ARCADIA UNINHABITED"
TO THE CITY OF ARCADIA
Beginning at the intersection of the center line of
Duarte Road, 60 feet wide, and the easterly boundary of the City
of Arcadia as shown on map of Tract No. 18616 in Book 543, pages
9 and 10, of Maps in the office of the Recorder of Los Angeles
County; thence southerly 42.53 feet along said boundary to the
true point of beginning; thence easterly parallel with the center
line of said Duarte Road to a point of intersection with the
easterly line of Fifth Avenue as shown on map of said Tract;
thence southerly along last mentioned easterly line to a point
that is 15 feet southerly of the northwest corner of Lot 41 of
said Tract; thence easterly at right angles to the last mentioned
course to the easterly line of above mentioned Lot 41; thence
southerly along the easterly line of said Lot 41 to the southeast
corner thereof, said corner being in the boundary of the City of
Arcadia; thence westerly and northerly along the boundary of the
City of Arcadia to the true point of beginning.

SECTION 6. That the City of Arcadia hereby gives notice
of and fixes Tuesday, September 19, 1961, at the hour of 8:00
o'clock p.m., in the Council Chamber of the Arcadia City Hall,
240 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia, California, as the day, hour
and place when and where the City Council of the City of Arcadia
will hear protests made by any person owning real property within
the territory above described. At any time before the hour set
for hearing objections, any owner (as defined by Section 35312
of, the California Government Code) of property within the above-
described territory may file written prote~t against the annexa-
tion. The protest shall state the name of the owner of the prop-
erty affected and the description and area of the property in
general terms.
SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution and shall cause a copy hereof to be published
and mailed as required by Section 35311 of the California Govern-
ment Code.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Arcadia, held on the 1st day of August, 1961, by the affirmative
vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit:
