RESOLUTION NO. 3407
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF 'ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
CREATI~G, ESTABLISHING AND
REESTABLISHING WITHIN THE PLANNING
DEPARTMENT THE POSITION OF PLANNING
TECHNICIAN IN THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE
OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, AND SPECIFYING
THE QUALIFICATIONS THEREFOR AND THE
DUTIES THEREOF.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
DOES HEREBY DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That effective July 1, 1961, there is hereby
created, established and reestablished in the classified service of
the City employ the position of Planning TeChnician in the Planning
Department and salary schedule No. 43 is hereby assigned thereto.
The QUalificati9ns for and the duties of such position' shall be
those recommended by the ~ersonnel Board ,on July 13, 196~ and hereby
approved, a copy of which recommendation is attached hereto, marked
Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof by reference.
SECTION 2. That all other and former resolutions in con-
flict or inconsistent herewith are hereby rescinded.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution.
I HEREBY 'CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
held on the 15th day of August, 1961, by th~ affirmative vote of
at least three Councilmen, to wit:

EXHIBIT "A"
PLANNING TECHNICIAN
A Planning Technician makes original and secondary City Planning
surveys. This employee is responsible for preparing all types
of City Planning reports and analyses. He is given broad assign-
ments and is expected to carry out details. A Planning Techni-
cian's work is checked mainly for final results.
A Planning Technician
makes original and secondary surveys, performs
research and develops plans for such City
Planning matters as population, land use,
recreation, streets and highways, transportation,
community design and other related problems;
lays out, plots, traces and letters drawings;
plans, charts and diagrams pertaining to City
Planning subjects;
makes statistical surveys and compiles statistical
information; prepares graphs in respect to building
activity, subdivision development, zoning changes
and similar problems;
performs work in developing the Master Plan;
analyzes surveys and submits recommendations for
approval;
and performs related work as assigned.
A Planning Technician should have
knowledge of and ability to plan, make, analyze
and present City Planning surveys and recommendations.
A Planning Technician must have
education equivalent to that represented by
graduation from a university of recognized
standing with specialization in City Planning,
or an allied field; or some other combination
of education and experience of equal value.
