HomeMy WebLinkAbout3303 _._ v-n . ~ ~ . .~ . .~7~~"'" RESOLUTION NO. 3303 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING BIWEEKLY PAY PERIODS FOR SALARIES OF CITY EMPLOYEES, AMENDING RESOLUTIONS NOS. 2327 AND 3183, AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 2'738. WHEREAS, the semimonthly pay period of salaries to city employees, as heretofore established, creates peak workloads in the preparation of payrolls and the issuance of pay checks for the de- partments involved; and, WHEREAS, a survey of all city employees showed that two to on~ favored a biweekly pay peri9d rather than a semimonthly pay periodj and, WHEREAS, the issuance of pay.checks on a biweekly basis would establish a more balanced workload for the departments in- volvedj NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS; . ~uL-4 P-'33( / SE.CTION 1. That the payment of salaries to city Jrnployees be made biweekly, on every altern~te Friday, for that portion of salary accruing to each employee for the two weeks' period ending on the preceding Friday. Each biweekly payment thus made to each em- ployee shall be a sum equal to the product of each respective em- ployee'S daily rate of pay times the number of days within such biweekly period for which such employee is entitled to be paid. Each employee's daily rate of compensation shall be a sum equal to the quotient derived by multiplying his applicable monthly rate of com- pensation by twelve and dividing the product thereof by 260. If any Friday, upon which the biweekly payment is to be made under the terms of this resolution, falls upon ~ holiday. such biweekly pay- ment shall be made on the Thursday immediately preceding such holiday. -1- 3303 .' . .' .' . . . . .. .. -, . . SECTION 2. That the biweekly payment of regular salaries to city employees on every alternate Friday shall become effective on October 16, 1960, and the first biweekly payment thereunder shall be made November 4, 1960. SECTION 3. That Section 2 of Resolution No. 3183, adopted October 31, 1959, be again amended to read as follows: "SECTION 2. That commencing July 1, 1960, the compensa- tion of Harold K. Schone as City Manager shall be and the same is hereby fixed at the rate of sixteen hundred andno/l00 dollars ($1,600.00) per month, said compensation to be paid in biweekly in- stallments at the times provided for the payment of regular city employees pursuant to Resolution No. 3303." SECTION 4. That Section 2 of Resolution No. 2327, adopted January 20, 1953, be'again amended to read as follows: "SECTION 2. That effective July 1, 1960, said appointee shall receive as compensation for his services the sum of nine hun- dred twenty-five andno/l00 dollars ($925.00) per month, said com- pensation to be paid in biweekly installments at the times provided for the payment of regular city employees pursuant to Resolution No. 3303. That said appointee shall be paid additional compensation for services rendered in actions in court, for appearances at hearings before administrative boards and commissions other than city boards and commissions, and for proceedings taken under any statutory im- provement act, and for all other matters he may be instructed to do . ' and for which extra compensation is to be in an amount commensurate with the value of the services rendered and in all cases shall be subject to the approval of the City Council." SECTION 5. That Resolution No. 2738 be and the same is hereby rescinded. SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
