RESOLUTION NO. 3332
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING ITS INTENTION
TO FORM A LIGHTING MAINTENANCE DISTRICT, WHICH
DISTRICT IS TO PAY THE COST AND EXPENSES FOR
THE MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF A STREET
LIGHTING SYSTEM ON PORTIONS OF CORNELL DRIVE,
WINDSOR ROAD, NEWMAN AVENUE, SUNSET BOULEVARD,
HUNGATE LANE, GREENFIELD AVENUE, SIERRA MADRE
BOULEVARD, SOUTHVIEW ROAD, SECOND AVENUE,
OAKWOOD AVENUE, NAOMI AVENUE, THIRD AVENUE,
WILSON AVENUE, NORMAN AVENUE, LEDA. LANE,
ELEVADO AVENUE, MELANIE LANE, FOURTH AVENUE,
GRAND VIEW AVENUE, SHARON ROAD, FIFTH AVENUE,
OAKS PLACE, WISTARIA AVENUE, PEACHTREE LANE,
WHITE OAK DRIVE, HOLLY AVENUE, ROBBINS DRIVE,
ELKINS PLACE, ROSEMARIE DRIVE, COYLE AVENUE,
CANYON ROAD, DUARTE ROAD, EIGHTH AVENUE,

WINNIE WAY, OAKWOOD DRIVE, CHANTRY DRIVE, GRACE
AVENUE, HIGHLAND OAKS DRIVE, STONE HOUSE ROAD,
LOUISE AVENUE, WOODLAND AVENUE, WATSON
DRIVE, ORANGE GROVE AVENUE,. ORLANDO DRIVE,
LA SIERRA DRIVE, ONTARE ROAD, COLORADO STREET,
ILENE DRIVE, MARENDALE LANE, SAN CARLOS ROAD,
ALTERN STREET, YORKSHIRE DRIVE, MERRY OAK LANE,
PAMELA ROAD, VIRGINIA DRIVE, AND, ,SANTA MARIA
ROAD IN SAID CITY, AND FIXING A TIME AND PLACE
FOR HEARING OBJECTIONS TO THE FORMATION OF SAID
DISTRICT OR TO THE EXTENT THEREOF.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the public interest and convenience re-
quire and it is the intention of the City Council of the City of
Arcadia to form a lighting maintenance district to be known as
Lighting Maintenance District No. 15, for the purpose of assessing
said district tQ pay a portion of the cost and expenses of main-
taining and operating a street lighting system consisting of

three hundred eighty-seven (387) 2500 lumen lamps, forty (40) 4000
lumen lamps and seventy-eight (78) Eooo, lumen lamps in.'.said,'di,strict on
portions of Cornell Drive, Windsor Road, Newman Avenue, Sunset
Boulevard, ~ungate Lane, Greenfield Avenue, Sierra Madre Boulevard,
Southview Road, Second Avenue, Oakwood Avenue, Naomi Avenue, Third
Avenue! Wilson Avenue, Norman Avenue, Leda Lane, Elevado Avenue,
Melanie Lane, Fourth Avenue, Grand View Avenue, Sharon Road, Fifth

SECTION 2, The items of expense of ~aintenance and opera-
tion of the said lighting system to be furnished and to be assessed
in part against the lands within the district (exclusive of improve-
ments), are electric power, repairs, replacements, maintenance,
labor, materials, engineering, printing and advertising, The esti-
mated amount of electric power necessary for said system for each

year is three hundred seventy-eight thousand, five hundred ninety
(378,590) 'kilowatt hours and the estimated cost of said electric
power for the first year of maintenance and operation is the sum
of twenty-two thousand, two hundred twenty-two and 64/100 dollars
($22,222.64).
SECTION 3. That the said contemplated maintenance and
operation of said lighting system in the opinion of the City Coun-
cil of the City of Arcadia is of more than local or ordinary pub-
lic benefit and said City Council hereby makes the expense of said
maintenance and operation, exclusive of the amount to be paid by
said City as stated in Section 5 hereof, chargeable upon a district,
which district said City Council hereby declares to be the district
benefited by said maintenance and operation and to be'assessed to
pay the cost and expense thereof; which said district shall, in
general, include all of those lots fronting on said portions of said
streets.
A plat, or map of said district, indicating by a boundary
line the extent of the lands included in the proposed district,
and indicating by symbol showing the type of lighting, was approved
and adopted by the City Council of said City of Arcadia, and is on
file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Arcadia. Refer-
ence is hereby made to said plat or map for further, full and com-
plete description of said Lighting Maintenance District No. 15, and
said map so on file shall govern for all details as to the extent
of such district.
SECTION 4. That said maintenance and operation shall be
furnished for said system for a period from the date of the forma~
tion of said district to and including January 31, 1966.
SECTIuN 5. The City Council of the City of Arcadia hereby
orders that fifty percent (50%) of the total maintenance and

operation cost and expenses of said system be paid out of the
treasury of said City from the general fund of said City.
SECTION 6. Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, the
17th day of January, 1961, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock p.m. of said
day, in the Council Chamber of said City Council of said City of
Arcadia, in the City Hall of said City, 240 West Huntington Drive,
any and all persons owning, land or having any interest in lands
within the district liable to be assessed for the expenses of said
maintenance and operation or any portion thereof, may be heard and
any pf said persons may present any-objections that they may have
by protest.

SECTION 7. All the proceedings for the aforesaid mainte-
nance and operation of said system shall be had and taken under and
in accordance with the provisions of an act of the Legislature of
the State of California, known and designated as the Municipal Light-
ing Maintenance District Act of 1927, b~ing Division 14, Part 3 of
the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California.
SECTION 8. The Superintendent of Streets shall post or
cause to be posted, copies of this resolution headed "Notice of
formation of lighting maintenance district" along all open streets
within said district liable to be assessed, in the manner and form
required by law.
SECTION 9. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution and shall cause the same to be publiShed twice,
,to wit: on December 22, 1960 and on December 29, 1960, in the Ar-
cadia Tribune and Arcadia News, a newspaper of general circulation
published and circulated in the City of Arcadia and hereby desig-
nated for that purpose.
