A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
ORDERING THE FORMATION OF A LIGHTING
MAINTENANCE DISTRICT, DESIGNATED AS
"LIGHTING MAINTENANCE DISTRICT NO. 16",
TO PAY THE COSTS AND EXPENSES FOR THE
MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF A STREET
LIGHTING SYSTEM ON PORTIONS OF BALDWIN
AVENUE, ALLEY EAST OF BALDWIN AVENUE,
DUARTE ROAD, HUNTINGTON DRIVE, NAOMI
AVENUE, MORLAN PLACE, SANTA ANITA AVE-
NUE AND SUNSET BOULEVARD IN SAID CITY.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
DOES HEREBY ORDER, FIND, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That pursuant to the provisions of Resolution
of Intention No. 3333, passed, approved and adopted December 20,
1960, and after a public hearing on the matter in conformance with
the provisions of the Municipal Lighting Maintenance District Act
of 1927, being Division 14, Part 3, of the Streets and Highways
Code of the State of California, it is hereby ordered that a light-
ing maintenance district be and the same is hereby formed and that
the boundaries of such lighting maintenance district, which district
is to pay the cost and expenses for the maintenance and operation
of a street lighting system on portions of Baldwin Avenue, Alley
east of Baldwin Avenue, Duarte Road, Huntington Drive, Naomi Avenue,
Morlan Place, Santa Anita Avenue and Sunset Boulevard, in said
City over and above the forty percent (40%) of the total maintenance
and operation costs and expenses thereof to be paid out of the
treasury of the City of Arcadia from the general fund of said City,
shall be and the same are hereby finally established in conformance

with and shown on that certain map entitled "Diagram of Lighting
Maintenance District No. 16", heretofore prepared by the City
Engineer and approved and adopted by Resolution No. 3331 of the
City Council of the City of Arcadia on December 20, 1960, and
on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City. That the
boundaries of said Lighting Maintenance District No. 16 and the
properties included therein are defined, bounded and described
as follows:

PARCEL NO. 16 - 1 (Sheets 2, 3, 5, 5 A and 6)
Beginning at the northeast corner of Lot 1, Tract No. 6985, as per
map recorded in Book 106, page 53, of maps in the office.of the
Recorder of Los Angeles County, thence southerly along the easterly
line of said lot, to the southeast corner thereof; thence easterly
alortg the northerly line of Lot 5 of said Tract 150 feet; thence
southerly along the easte-rly ooundary of said Tract to the south-
east corner of Lot 12, of said Tract, thence easterly along the
easterly prolongation of the southerly line of said Lot 12, to the
point of intersection with the northerly prolongation of the east-

Beginning at the intersection of the southerly property line of
Huntington Drive, 80 feet wide, and the easterly property line of
Michill!nda Avenue, 50 feet wide; thence northerly along said
easterly line 384.86 feet; thence easterly to a point on the westerly
property line of Sunset Boulevard intersecting with a tangent to a
curve on the south property line of Portola Drive, 60 feet wide,
said curve being concave to the southeast having a radius of 20
feet and a length of 36.25 feet, said tangent being at the easterly
terminus of said curve; thence easterly along said tangent to the
point of tangency; thence easterly along said south property line
86.21 feet; thence southerly along a line parallel with the center
line of said Sunset Boulevard 54.35 feet; thence easterly along

SECTION 2. That the items of expense of maintenance and
operation of the aforesaid street lighting system agreed to be furnished
and the estimated cost thereof for the first year, commencing July 1,
1961, are as follows: electric power, repairs, replacements, main-
tenance, labor, materials, engineering, printing and advertising;
that the estimated amount of electric power necessary for said
system in said district for each year is one hundred forty thousand,
one hundred fifty-four (140,154) kilowatt hours and the estimated
cost of said electric power for the first year of maintenance and
operation is the sum of eight thousand three hundred fifty-five
and 38/100 dollars ($8,355.38).
SECTION 3. That the percentage of the total expenses of
the aforesaid maintenance and operation to be paid by the aforesaid
district, as set forth in aforesaid Resolution No. 3333 of the City
Council of the City of Arcadia, shall be paid by special assessment
taxes levied upon all lands, exclusive of 'improvements, within
said district as hereinabove formed and established.
SECTION 4. That forty percent (40%) of the total expenses
of maintenance and operation of said district shall be paid out of
the treasury of the City of Arcadia from the general fund of said
City and the remainder of the total expenses of maintenance of said
district shall be paid by said district.
SECTION 5. That a certified copy of this Resolution shall
be filed with the Assessor who makes the assessments for the general
city taxes, and thereafter the Assessor in making up the city
assessment roll shall segregate the property included within the
district hereby formed on the assessment roll under the district
designation contained in the resolution, to wit: "Lighting Maintenance
District No. 16".

SECTION 6. That Lighting Maintenance District No. 12,
Zones 1 and 2, was formed by Resolution No. 2971 of the Arcadia City
Council, adopted January 21, 1958; that all of the properties incluaed
,
within Zone 2 of aforesaid Lighting Maintenance District No. 12 as
described in Section 1 of aforesaid Resolution No. 2971 are included
within Lighting Maintenance District No. 16 hereinbefore ordered
formed. That no further assessments will be levied under aforesaid
Lighting Maintenance District No. 12, Zone 2. That Resolution No.
2971, adopted January 21, 1960, is hereby rescinded, and the City
Council hereby directs and requests that all tax code areas hereto-
fore established by the County of Los Angeles solely by reason of
aforesaid Lighting Maintenance District No. 12, Zone 2, be abolished
and discontinued.
SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held
on the 17th day of January, 1961, by the affirmative vote of at least
three Councilmen, to wit:
