RESOLUTION NO. 3392
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
READOPTING THE OFFICIAL FIVE-STEP
SALARY SCHEDULE FOR THE VARIOUS
POSITIONS IN THE CITY EMPLOY,
ESTABLISHING AND REAFFIRMING THE
VARIOUS POSITIONS IN THE CITY EMPLOY,
ASSIGNING NEW SCHEDULE NUMBERS TO
SUCH POSITIONS, AND ALTERING AND
ADJUSTING THE MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM
COMPENSATION FOR ALL POSITIONS IN
THE CITY EMPLOY, AND AMENDING ALL
PRIOR RESOLUTIONS TO CONFORM
HEREWITH.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES
HEREBY DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1, That the Personnel Board and the City Mana-
ger, in cooperation with the administrative staff of the City,
have reviewed the personnel system of the city of Arcadia and the
compensation of all officers and employees of the City of Arcadia
and have made their recommendations thereon. That the City Coun-
ci1 has reviewed the aforesaid recommendations and the subject
matter generally.
SECTION 2. That the following five-step plan salary
schedule heretofore adopted by the City of Arcadia is hereby re-
adopted and reaffirmed:

SECTION 3. That pursuant to the recommendations and
determinations thus made, a~ set forth in Section 1 hereinbefore,
the following positions within the unclassified and classified
service of the City of Arcadia are, effective July 1, 1961,
established, reestablished, reaffirmed and approved, respectively,
as the case maybe, and effective as of July 1, 1961, the follow-
ing rates or amount of compensation are made applicable to and
reaffirmed with respect ,to the various offices and positions
w~thin the city employ, and effective~U1Y 1, 1961, all positions
in the classified and unclassified service of the City of Arcadia
heretofore created and established and not hereinafter or other-
wise established, reestablished, reaffirmed or approved are hereby
abolished, to wit:

SECTION 4. That Resolution No. 3183, adopted October
31, 1959, entitled "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, APPOINTING AND EMPLOYING HAROLD K. SCHONE
AS CITY MANAGER, DEFINING HIS DUTIES AND ESTABLISHING HIS RATE OF
COMPENSATION, REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 3163 AND AMENDING RESOLUTION
NO. 3142", as amended by Resolution No. 3267, adopted June 21,
1960, and further amended by Resolution No. 3303, adopted October
4, 1960, be and the same is hereby still further amended by amend-
ing Section 2 thereof to read as follows:
"SECTION 2. That commencing July 1, 1961, the compensa-
tion of Harold K. Schone as City Manager shall be and the same is
hereby fixed at the rate of seventeen hundred and nO/100 dollars
($1,700,00) per month, said compensation to be paid in bi-week1y
installments at the times provided for the payment of regular city
employees pursuant to Resolution No. 3303."
SECTION 5. That effective July 1, 1961, Resolution No,
2327, adopted January 20, 1953, entitled "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, APPOINTING JAMES A.
NICKLIN CITY ATTORNEY, SPECIFYING HIS DUTIES AND COMPENSATION, AND
DIRECTING THE PREPARATION OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE", as amended by
Resolution No. 2432, adopted September 15, 1953, and as amended
further by Resolution No. 2634, adopted June 21, 1955; by Resolu-
tion No. 2898, adopted June 18, 1957; by Resolution No. 3021,
adopted May 26, 1958; by Resolution No. 3031, adopted July 1, 1958;
by Resolution No. 3142, adopted June 16. 1959; by Resolution No,
3267, adopted June 21, 1960, and by Resolution No. 3303, adopted
October 4, 1960, be and the same, is hereby still further amended
by amending Section 2 thereof to read as follows:
"SECTION 2. That effective JUly 1, 1961, said appointee
shall receive as compensation for his services the sum of nine

hundred seventy-five and nO/100 dollars ($975.00) per month, said
compensation to be paid in bi-week1y installments at the times pro-
vided for the payment of regular city employees pursuant to Reso-
lution No. 3303. That said appointee shall be paid additional com-
pensation for Rervices rendered in actions in court, for appear-
ances at hearing~ before administrative boards and commissions
other than city boards and commissions, and for proceedings taken
under any statutory improvement act, and for all other matters he
may be instructed to do and for which extra compensation is to be
in an amount commensurate with the value of the services rendered
and in all cases shall be subject to the approval of the City
Council'. "
SECTION 6. That effective July 1, 1961. the sum of
seventy-five and nO/lOa dollars ($75.00) per month be paid to the
City Clerk in payment of secretarial or clerical services beyond
and in addition to the duties of the City Clerk as specified in
the City Charter, rendered to or upon the request of the City
Council.
SECTION 7. That any temporary employee, at the discre-
tion of the appointing power and with the approval of the City
Manager, may be paid up to the maximum amount specified for the
position thus filled by such employee, and may be paid less than
the salary prescribed for a probationary or permanent employee in
such position. That all part-time employees and all other em-
ployees in the classified service, as to which a maximum or stated
compensation is hereinbefore specified, may be paid any sum up to
and including or any sum less than the maximum compensation here-
inbefore specified.

SECTION 8. That all prior resolutions inconsistent in
whole or in part with any of the foregoing sections are hereby
amended to conform with the provisions hereof.
SECTION 9. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was
adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Arcadia held on the 20th day of June , 1961, by the affirmative
vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit:
