THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the City Planning Commission did, on its own motion, initiate proceedings pursuant to Resolution No. 406 for the purpose of considering and making recommendations con- cerning the reclassification from Zone R-2 to Zone R-3 of property located at 747 to 803 West Camino Real in the City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State of California, to wit: Parts of'Lots 7 and 8, Block "A", Santa Ariita Land Company's Tract, -as shown on map recorded in Book 6; page 137, of Maps, records of said County, to wit: Parcell. The east 66 feet of Lot 7, Block "A" , of said tract; Parcel 2. The south 176.1 feet of the west 90 feet of Lot 8, Block "A", of said tract; Parcel 3. The north 123.9 feet of the west 100 feet of Lot 8, Block riA", of said tract. That on March 14, 1961, a public hearing was duly held by and be- fore said Commission, at which hearing all ,interested persons were given full opportunity to be heard and to present evidence. That on March 28, 1961, said City Planning Commission adopted its cer- tain Resolution No. 406, wherein and whereby it made certain recom- mendations: for the various parcels of property above described. That after notice duly given as required by law this Council did on May 16, 1961, hold a public hearing on said matter, which hear- ing was duly continued to June 6, 1961, at each of which times all interested persons were given full opportunity to be heard. -1- 3394 SECTION 2. That there were no protests, either oral or written to the change of zone and many owners of adjacent proper- ties signed the application as desiring the change. That although the most easterly 10 feet of subject property is already zoned R-3, subject property has not been developed fully even for R-2 uses. That all of the surrounding property is presently zoned for and developed to R-l or R-2 uses with the exception of one lot adjoin- ing the northeast corner which is zoned R-3 and with respect to which a variance has been granted for and which is developed for commercial uses. SECTION 3. That although subject property is located close to the commercial area on Baldwin Avenue and at some future time R-3 zoning may become necessary, such rezoning at this time is premature; that at present there seems to be more need for single-family residences than for apartment houses. That it does not appear that there is any need at this time for R-3 zoning in this area; and ,that neither the public necessity, con~enience, general welfare nor good zoning practice justifies such a change at this time. SECTION 4. That for the foregoing reasons, the above described property should remain in and the same is hereby reestab- lished as property in R-2 Zone. SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held on the 20th day of June , 1961, by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, to wit: -2- 3394 AYES: Councilmen Butterworth, Camphouse and Phillips NOES: Councilman Reibold ABSENT: Councilman Balser ~~'~~ Ci Y Cler --'/..0 1rle i y 0 rea ia SIGNED AND APPROVED this 20th day of June, 1961. .~~;,"la PRO TEHPf1"'" .
