RESOLUTION NO. 3231
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING HAROLD K. SCHONE, THOS. E.
HALEY, WILLIAM S. ORR AND LAURENCE J.
WAY TO SIGN FOR AND ACCEPT SURPLUS
FEDERAL PROPERTY DONATED FOR PURPOSES
OF CIVIL DEFENSE AND DISASTER, AND
RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 3149.
WHEREAS, by Public Law 655, 84th Congress (70 Stat. 493),
the Federal Government has authorized the donation of surplus fed-
eral property for civil defense purposes; and,
WHEREAS, certain conditions are imposed by the Federal
Civil Defense Administration, the Department of Health, Education
and Welfare, the California Disaster Office and the Surplus Prop-
erty Division of the State Department of Education in connection
with the acquisition of such property; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Arcadia desires to become eligible
to acquire.such property;
NOW, TH~REFOREJ THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESQLVE AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1. That Harold K. Schone who is City Manager and
Director of Civil Defense, and Thos'. E. Haley who is Assistant Street
Superintendent and Deputy Director of Civil Defense, and William S.
Orr who is Assistant Chief of Police and Deputy Director of Civil
Defense, and Laurence J. Way who is Fire Chief and Deputy Director
of Civil Defense, shall be'and they are, and each of them individu-
ally is hereby authorized as the representative of the City of
Arcadia to sign for and accept surplus federal property in accord-
ance with the conditions imposed by the above agencies.

SECTION 2. That Resolution No. 3149 entitled t1A RESOLU-
TION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, AU-
THORIZING LAWRENCE E. COOK TO SIGN FOR AND ACCEPT SURPLUS FEDERAL
PROPERTY DONATED FOR PURPOSES OF CIVIL DEFENSE.AND DISASTER, AND
REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 298811, adopted.July 7, 1959, be and the
same is hereby rescinded.
SECTION 3. That this resolution of authorization shall
remain in full force and effect until amended, superseded or re-
scinded by resolution of the City Council of the City of Arcadia
transmitted, in duplicate, to the California Disaster Office;
SECTION 4. . The City Cierk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution and shall cause 'two (2) certified copies hereof
to be forwarded to the California Disaster Office, for filing with
said Disaster Office and with the State Department of Education.
SECTION 5. That said Harold K. Schone, Thos. E. Haley,
William S. Orr and Laurence J. Way will execute hereon a copy of
their signatures prior to distribution of copies hereof as above
provided .:

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
held on the 5th day of April, 1960, by the affirmative vote of at
least three Councilmen, to wit:
