RESOLUTION NO. 3276
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
C1TY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING
THE DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS, DEPARTMENT OF
PUBLIC WORKS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA,
TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION TO REDUCE THE
SPEED LIMIT AND INSTALL TRAFFIC SIGNALS
ON FOOTHILL BOULEVARD, EASTERLY OF
MICHILLINDA AVENUE.
WHEREAS, the City of Arcadia, through its City Council,
staff, and citizens, has from time to time urged the State Division
of Highways to take appropriate action to reduce the high accident
and injury rate on Foothill Boulevard in the City of Arcadia by re-
ducing the speed limit on said street and by the installation of
signalling devices and left-turn baysj and,
WHEREAS, said requests in the past have either been ignored
or denied by the State Division of Highwaysj and,
WHEREAS, the records of the City show a total of one hundred
and four (104) traffic collisions, involving seventy (70) personal
injuries and one .( 1 )fa tali ty, have occurred since January 1, 1959
on said street within the ,boundaries of the City of Arcadiaj and,
WHEREAS, in the past the City of Arcadia has always attempted
to cooperate with the Division of Highways in all matters concerning
that Division and the CitYj
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COill~CIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
DOES HEREBY DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS;
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
acting at the request of and on behalf of its citizens, urges and
insists that the State Division of Highways reduce the 45-mile-per-
hour speed limit zone to thirty-five (35) miles per hour on Foothill
Boulevard easterly of Michillinda Avenue. That adequate properly lo-
cated traffic signals and left-turn bays be installed and constructed

on said boulevard between Michillinda and Santa Anita Avenue to re-
duce, if not eliminate, the traffic accidents and injuries now re-
peatedly occurring.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager be instructed to forward
certified copies of this resolution to all agencies or individuals
concerned in this problem.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia,
held on the 5th day of July, 1960, by the affirmative vote of at
least three Councilmen, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Balser, Butterworth, Reibold and
Camphouse
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Phillips
