A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AR-
CADIA DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO IMPROVE A PORTION OF SECOND AVENUE I
IN SAID CITY OF ARCADIA AND DECLARING SAID WORK OR I1~ROVEMENT TO
BE OF MORE THAN LOCAL OR ORDINARY PUBLIC BENEFIT AND DESCRIBING THE
DISTRICT TO BE BElffiFITED BY SAID WORK OR IMPROVEMENT AND TO BE AS-
SESSED TO PAY THE COSTS AND EXPENSES THEREOF AND DETERMINING THAT
SERIAL BONDS SHALL BE ISSUED TO REPRESENT SAID COSTS AND EXPENSES
AND FIXING A TIk~ AND PLACE FOR HEARING OBJECTIONS TO SAID WORK OR
IMPROVEMENT OR TO THE EXTENT OF THE DISTRICT TO BE ASSESSED OR BOTH.

THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA DO RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the public interest and convenience re-
quire and it is the intention of the Board of Trustees of said City
of Arcadia to order the following work and improvement to be done
in said City of Arcadia, to-wit:
FIRST: That a concrete curb be cO:1structed in said Second.
Avenue from the Southerly line of Huntington Drive to the Northerly
line of Duarte Road in said City of Arcadia, along a line fourteen
(14) feet Westerly of and parallel to the Easterly line of said
Second Avenue and that a concrete curb be constructed in said Sec-
ond Avenue from the Southerly line of Duarte Road to the Northerly
line of Live Oak Avenue in said City, along a line eleven (11) feet
Westerly of and parallel to the Easterly line of said Second Ave-
nue, including returns at the Southerly side of Hlli~tington Drive
and Second Avenue; California Street and Second Avenue; Eldorado
Street and Second Avenue; Genoa Street ~~d Second Avenue; Alice
Street and Second Avenue; Valnett Avenue and Second Avenue, and
Walnut Avenue and Second Avenue.
That a concrete curb be constructed in said Second Ave-
nue from the Southerly line of Huntington Drive to the Northerly

SECOND: That the roadway space in said Second Avenue
from the Southerly line of Huntington Drive to the Northerly line
of Live Oak Avenue in said City of Arcadia, between the Easterly
curb line of said Second Avenue and the oil macadam pavement now
in place in said portion of Second Avenue, be graded and paved
with an oil macadam pavement four (4) inches thick, except where
such oil macad9m pavement is now in place and in good condition
in the intersections of Hlli,tington Drive and Second Avenue; Cali-
fornia Street and Second Avenue; Eldorado Street and Second Avenue;
Genoa Street and Second Avenue; Alice Street and Second Avenue;
Duarte Road and Second Avenue; Valnett Avenue and Second Avenue an~

Walnut Avenue and Second Avenue.
That the roadway space in said Second Avenue from the
Southerly line of Huntington Drive to the Northerly line of said
Live Oak Avenue situate between the Westerly curb line of said Sec-
ond Avenue and the oil macadam pavement now in plp-ce in said por-
tion of Second Avenue, oe graded and paved with an oil macadam
pavement four (~) inches thick except where such an oil macad8m
pavement is now in place and in good condition in the intersection~
of Huntington Drive and Second Avenue; Alta Street and Second Ave-
nue; Bo:ai ta Street B.nd Second Avenue; California Street and Second ~
Avenue; Diamond Street and Second Avenue; Eldorado Street and
Second Avenue; Fano Street and Second Avenue; Genoa Street and

SECTION 2: That the grade to which the work hereinabove
described shall be done and the improvement made as provided in
this Resolution, is that shown on Profile and Improvement Plan No.
c-143,on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City, to
which Profile reference is hereby made for the description of such

grade.
SECTION 3: All the foregoing work shall be done in ac-
cordance with said Profile and Improvement Plan No. C-143 on file
in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Arcadia.

Said work shall also be in accordance with the following

SECTION 4: That said oontemplated work and improvement in

the following described exterior boundary lines, to-wit:
Beginning at the Northwest corner of Lot 5S, Santa Anita
Tract, in the City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State of
California, as per Map recorded in Book 6, Page 240,Miscellaneous
Records of said County; thence Easterly along the Northerly line of
said Lot 5$ for a distance of 207.5 feet; thence Southerly in a
direct line and parallel to the Easterly line of said Second Avenue
to the Northerly line of Dua.rte Road at a point therein distant

The above description is general Q1ly. A Plat or Map
of said District indicating by a boundary line the extent of the
territory included in the proposed Assessment District is on file
in the office of said City Engineer. Reference is hereby made to

the said Plat or Map for a further, full and complete description I
of said Assessment District. The said Plat or Map so on file Shall[
govern for all details as to the extent of such Assessment District
SECTION 5: S&id Board of Trustees also determines and
declares that Serial Bonds shall be issued to represent each as-
sessment of Twenty-five ($25.00) Dollars or more, remaining unpaid
for twenty (20) days after the date of the ihrrent to represent the
expenses of said work and improvement. Said Serial Bonds shall
extend over a period ending nine (9) years from the second day of
January next sucoeeding the fifteenth day of the next November fo1-

1 lowing their date and an even annual proportion of the principal
sum thereof shall be payable by coupon on the second day of Jan-
uary every year after the fifteenth day of the next November fol-
lowing their date, ~~til the whole is paid, and the interest shall I
be payable semi-annually by coupon on the second days of January
and July respectively of each year after their date at the rate
of seven (7) per cent per annum on all sums unpaid until the whole
of said principal and interest are paid.
SECTION 6: Notice is hereby given that on We~~esday the
third day of August. 1927, at the hour of eight o'clock P. M. of
said day, in the Council Chamber of the Board of Trustees of said
City of Arcadia. in the City Hall of said City, any and all persons
having any objections to said proposed work or improvement or the
extent of the District to be assessed, or both. may appear before
said Board of Trustees and show cause why said proposed work or
improvement shoulid not be carried out in accordance with this Res-
olution.
SECTION 7:
All of the proceedings for the aforesaid work

and improvement and for the issuance of said Bonds shall be had
and taken under and in accordance with the provisions of an Act of
the Legislature of the State of California, known and designated
as the II Improvement Act of 191}ll, approved April 7, 1911, and of
all Acts supplementary thereto or amendatory thereof.
SECTION $: The Superintendent of Streets shall post or
cause to be posted conspicuously along the line of said contem-
plated work or improvement and also along all the open Streets
within the District liable to be assessed and hereinabove described,
notices of the passage of this Resolution in the manner and form
required by la,w.
SECTION 9: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Resolution and sh~ll cause the same to be published twice
in The Arcadia News, a weekly newSpaper publl.~hed

in said City of Arcadia and hereby designated for that purpose.
Said Board of Trustees does not deem it advisable that the City
Clerk mail copies of "Notice of Improvement" to the owners or
reputed ovmers of property within said Assessment District and
the mailing of such notices is hereby dispensed with.
The foregoing Resolution was adopted at a regular meet-
ing of the Board of Trustees of the City of Arcadia, held on the
6th. day of July. 1927. by the affirmative vote of at least three
Trustees. to-wit:
