RESOLUTION NO. 3988
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO
VACATE AND ABANDON ALL OR ANY PORTION OF THAT
CERTAIN ALLEY BETWEEN SANTA CLARA AND WHEELER
STREET EXTENDING IN AN EASTERLY DIRECTION FROM
SANTA ANITA A VENUE TO THE ALLEY EXTENDING IN A
NORTHERLY AND SOUTHERLY DIRECTION FROM SANTA
CLARA TO WHEELER STREET AND FIXING A TIME AND
PLACE FOR THE HEARING OF OBJECTIONS TO SUCH
PROPOSED VACATION AND ABANDONMENT.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA,
DOES HEREBY DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Arcadia
is informed and believes and hereby finds and determines that the
hereinafter described portion of that certain alley between Santa
Clara and Wheeler Street extending in an easterly direction from
Santa Anita Avenue to the alley extending in a northerly and
southerly direction from Santa Clara to Wheeler Street is no longer
required for the public convenience, necessity, use and welfare,
and that the public health, necessity and safety will be better
served by the vacation and abandonment for street and alley pur-
poses of the hereinafter described property, and does hereby de-
clare its intention to vacate and abandon, pursuant to Chapters 1,
2 and 3, Part 3, of Division 9 of the Streets and Highways Code of
the State of California, all or any portion of a public alley known
as that certain alley north of Wheeler Street easterly of Santa
Anita Avenue, in the City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, State
of California, described as follows:
That portion of that certain alley in Block 76,
in A Part Of Santa Anita Tract as shown on map
recorded in Book 15, Pages 89-90 of Miscellaneous
Records in the office of the Recorder of Los Angeles
County, lying westerly of the northerly prolongation
of the easterly line of Lot 6 of said Block 76.

SECTION 2. The City Council further determines and recites
that the public convenience and necessity require the reservation
and exception to the City of Arcadia of the right, easement and
right-of-way at any time, or from time to time, to construct, main-
tain, operate, repair, replace, remove or renew storm drains, sani-
tary sewers, water mains and necessary structures pertinent thereto
in, upon, over and across said portions of that certain alley be-
tween Santa Clara and Wheeler Street extending in an easterly direc-
tion from Santa Anita Avenue to the alley extending in a northerly
and southerly direction from Santa Clara to Wheeler Street proposed
to be vacated, abandoned and terminated as herein declared, and that
the proceedings taken hereunder are subject to such reservation and
exception, pursuant to Chapter 3, Part 3, Division 9 of said Streets
and Highways Code.
SECTION 3. That a map or plan indicating by boundary lines
the location and extent of the property included in the proposed
vacation and abandonment is on file in the office of the City Clerk
and reference is hereby made to said map or plan for a particular
and for a further, full and complete description of all the proper-
ties comprising the aforesaid portions of properties.
SECTION 4. That Tuesday, the 16th day of April, 1968,
at 8:00 o'clock p.m. on said day, in the Council Chambers of said
City Council in the City Hall, 240 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia,
California, is hereby fixed as the hour, day and place at which
any and all persons interested in or objecting to the said proposed
vacation and abandonment may appear before this Council and show
cause why said portion of said alley should not be vacated and
abandoned as hereinbefore set forth.

SECTION 5. The Superintendent of Streets shall cause to
be posted notices of the passage of this resolution and of the
aforesaid hearing at the places and in the manner required by law.
SECTION 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution and shall cause the same to be published once
in the Arcadia Tribune, a newspaper of general circulation published
and circulated in the City of Arcadia.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was adopted
'at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia held
